The T+A SDX 3100 HV, a modular preamplifier, streaming client, and D/A converter, redefines the boundaries of digital and analog signal processing. Designed for audiophiles who demand absolute fidelity, this central hub of the HV (High Voltage) series systematically eliminates sonic limitations through a consistently channel-separated, uncompromising circuit design.

The technological pillars of signal processing

Path Separation Technology: Consistent separation of PCM and DSD

To utilize the specific strengths of PCM and DSD signals without loss, the SDX 3100 HV has separate signal paths.

Native DSD up to DSD 1024: DSD bitstreams are processed completely natively via the proprietary T+A True 1-bit converter at up to 44.8/49 MHz. Unlike standard converters, the signal is not converted to PCM, thus fully preserving the original dynamics and impulse response.

Reference-level PCM conversion: PCM signals are routed separately through a dual-differential quadruple converter. Each channel utilizes four 32-bit Burr-Brown sigma-delta D/A converters with a conversion rate of up to 705.6/768 kSps. This circuit design effectively compensates for conversion errors and minimizes residual noise to a mathematical minimum.

ASA G3 & De-Jitter Masterclock: Bit-perfect high-res streaming

With its third-generation Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA G3), the SDX 3100 HV is natively equipped for high-resolution network audio formats. The streaming client processes high-resolution streams with bit-perfect accuracy and supports essential services such as Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Roon, Amazon Music, and HIGHRESAUDIO, as well as Apple AirPlay® and Gracenote Music ID Services, regardless of the platform. A critical element of the digital stage is the de-jitter master clock: High-precision femtosecond crystal oscillators completely eliminate timing errors (jitter) from the digital signal before conversion even takes place.

Symmetrical analog tone control in a high-voltage design

The analog preamplifier stage is based on a fully symmetrical double-mono architecture. Thanks to the high operating voltage typical of the HV series, the amplifier stages operate in an extremely linear range with enormous dynamic reserves. A VTC module is integrated for acoustic room correction. This finely tuned, channel-separated tone control for bass and treble operates purely analog, ensuring that the signal remains absolutely unaltered outside of frequency correction.

Flexibility and modular phono integration

The rear panel of the SDX 3100 HV underscores its claim as a universal high-end interface. In addition to a multitude of digital interfaces (including USB-DAC, AES-EBU, BNC, coaxial, TOS-Link, and HDMI) and analog inputs, a modular bay allows for the integration of an uncompromising reference phono stage. This enables the seamless integration of analog turntables (MM/MC) at an absolute high-end level. An integrated high-performance headphone amplifier effortlessly drives even demanding, low-impedance headphones.
