Melco Audio launches new noise-reducing Ethernet cable
With the C100, Melco introduces a new Ethernet cable featuring noise-reducing features. The new C100 replaces Melco's previous C1AE Ethernet cable and offers a number of improvements designed to reduce noise and optimize network audio quality.
Asymmetrical grounding of the cable
The C100 benefits from the cable's asymmetrical grounding, where one end of the cable is connected to the ground point. According to Melco, this directs unwanted noise, either from outside sources or from connected devices, toward the ground point (indicated by a Melco logo on the connector plug), thus preventing interference with the delicate signal transmission.
'Floating' shielding
The opposite (unearthed) end of the cable has a 'floating' shield that is not connected to the connector, thus avoiding unwanted noise on downstream audio devices.
Other features include gold-plated connectors, a smooth cable exterior to prevent tangles, and double shielding for additional protection. The thickness of the C100's conductors has also been improved compared to the previous model.
Available lengths
The C100 is a cable with a very high bandwidth of 600 MHz: 6 times the speed of CAT 5 and 2.4 times the speed of CAT 6a. The C100 is available in lengths of 1.0 m, 2.0 m, 3.0 m, 5.0 m, and 10.0 m starting in January 2023.
