High-end two-channel sound systems have changed a lot in the last decade. Systems formerly used exclusively for records and CDs are now mainly used with content on NAS devices and servers. In order for music lovers to enjoy the ease of streaming without sacrificing the desired sound quality, an Ethernet cable suitable for such a transmission is required. Nordost's Valhalla 2 Ethernet cable allows music lovers to incorporate digital music storage and streaming into their sound systems - while maintaining or even improving the quality of music playback.

To meet the increasing demands for high-speed data and greater bandwidth, the Valhalla 2 Ethernet cable has the advantage of eight 23 AWG solid core conductors surrounded by high-density polymer insulation. These hardened and tempered conductors are arranged in four twisted pairs, which are then triple-shielded. These design features minimise skin effect, eliminate crosstalk and electromagnetic interference, and ensure a high-performance network cable that offers more bandwidth than is required for today's typical data demands.

To further differentiate the Ethernet cable V2 from the competition, Nordost implemented a unique mechanical tuning process. By precisely cutting each conductor to calculated, exactly equal lengths, internal microphonics and high frequency resonance are reduced. The precise cutting of each conductor at a length predetermined by the cable geometry, cable material and application guarantees the uniform arrival of all signals, resulting in significantly fewer synchronisation errors.

To complete this reference design, the Valhalla 2 cable is terminated by a specially designed gold-plated 8P8C/RJ45 connector that is resistant to electrostatic discharge and optimised for mechanical reliability. The resulting network cable supports frequencies and transmission speeds that easily meet Category 8 requirements.
