Thunderbird Interconnect
Experience unparalleled sound quality with the ThunderBird Interconnect. This cable, in good company with its mythical siblings FireBird and Dragon, could be the best cable the world has ever heard.
materials and design
The ThunderBird Interconnect relies on proven AudioQuest materials and design techniques to offer you a first-class sound experience:
- Signal Conductive Metal: Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) RF Drain Metal: Solid silver-plated copper
- Geometry: ZERO-Tech (No Characteristic Impedance)
- Dielectric: FEP air tubes for minimal signal interference
- Dielectric Bias System: ? 72v DBS (RCA); ?? Dual 72v DBS (XLR)
- Level 6 Noise Attenuation: ZERO-Tech + 72v DBS + Carbon/Graphene Mesh Network + Directional Control
- Receptacles: Copper Coated RF Drainage
- Plug contacts: Hanging silver over red copper
Available configurations:
XLR, RCA
Characteristics
ZERO-Tech (No Characteristic Impedance) for linear, broadband noise reduction.
The only way to avoid the effects of characteristic impedance differences between a cable and its connected source and load circuits is to prevent the cable from having a characteristic impedance. ZERO-Tech achieves this by eliminating the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low signal conductors, resulting in linear (octave-to-octave consistent) radio-frequency (RF) noise attenuation and uncompressed transients. To maintain full isolation between signal conductors, ZERO-Tech includes a dual 72v DBS pack with XLR cables.
Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors
Solid conductors prevent electrical and magnetic interactions between the strands. PSC+ solid-copper minimizes grain structure distortion and maximizes linear RF noise reduction.
FEP air hose dielectric
Positive conductors benefit from virtually no contact between the metal and its FEP insulation, which features superior dielectric constant and minimal signal interference. Negative conductors benefit from intentionally 'lossy insulation' - no air and no FEP material maximizes negative connection performance.
72v Dielectric Bias System (DBS)
Insulation is also a dielectric, which can act like a shunt filter. Biasing minimizes dielectric noise and linearizes the filter, significantly improving broadband induced RF noise attenuation.
Level 6 Noise Attenuation: ZERO-Tech + 72v DBS + Carbon/Graphene Mesh Network + Directional Control
Cellular, WiFi and satellite radio frequency noise is everywhere. AQ's Level 6 Linear Noise Attenuation incorporates a carbon and graphene resistor network, directionally controlled conductors, 72v DBS, and silver-plated drain wires, which significantly minimize the effects of RF noise masking.
Pendant silver over red-copper connector
AudioQuest's best connectors feature superior hanging silver (not tumbled) over extremely pure red copper.
Copper Coated RF Drainage Barrels
Grounded, copper-coated barrels maximize noise attenuation by preventing a metal barrel from capacitively coupling RF to the conductors.
Discover the world of pure sound with AudioQuest's ThunderBird Interconnect. Experience an unparalleled connection between your audio source and your sound system.
