REFERENCE Balanced Interconnect is handmade in the USA and can be upgraded to XL, OPUS or MAGNUM OPUS Balanced Interconnects. High-quality XLR plugs with gold-plated contacts transfer the power effortlessly through the precisely wound OFHC stranding.
REFERENCE Balanced delivers deeper, tighter bass frequencies and transmits music with more sophistication than ULTRA Balanced connections. ULTRA Balanced uses a single acrylic network module for each channel, while REFERENCE uses two elegant carbon fiber composite network modules for each channel. This not only allows the electromagnetic fields to propagate completely and unhindered, but the additional isolation also provides better noise suppression and effectively attenuates any possibility that resonances adversely affect performance. In addition, the thin and stiff-walled CFC network modules hold a larger mass of epoxy resin than the smaller cavities in acrylic modules for more effective resonance and vibration control.
The built-in networks are calibrated for cable length and type to reduce noise and increase signal efficiency. In addition, the networks are calibrated for either high or low output impedance components to increase the low level information extraction and the texture and foundation of the low frequencies. The warranty registration not only extends the Transparent Warranty to a limited lifetime warranty, but also offers the original owner free RBL recalibrations in the event that a component change requires network adjustments.
