Productinformation
Product information Rubicon 6 C Floorstanding Loudspeaker
Productnumber

289887

The floor-standing loudspeaker is controlled via the extremely stable wireless radio connection of its own proprietary network. Two 250 watt Class D amplifiers provide each RUBICON 6 C loudspeaker with enough power to ensure more than enough sound pressure even for complex musical passages or massive film explosions.

Lossless audio streaming

The RUBICON C loudspeakers only require a power outlet for power supply, the audio signals are transmitted wirelessly from the DALI Sound Hub to the loudspeakers via a lossless, high-resolution proprietary radio link. The audio system does not require any additional cables and works independently of the local WLAN network.

SMC magnet system

With an SMC pole piece surrounded by a slotted copper cover and seated within a large ferrite magnet, the benefits of the SMC magnet material can be maximized and distortion can be virtually eliminated.

fabric tweeters

Thanks to some technical borrowings from the DALI tweeters of the high-end series, the extremely lightweight fabric tweeters offer excellent resolution.

wood fiber membranes

Wood fibers give the particularly light and torsion-resistant membranes of the RUBICON woofers manufactured in the Danish DALI factory an uneven surface structure. The membrane vibrates evenly like a piston and exhibits only minimal resonance.

Description

The elegant RUBICON 6 C floor-standing loudspeaker represents our approach to linking the two worlds of high-quality music playback and digital audio streaming. The RUBICON 6 C is part of a wireless loudspeaker system that allows you to access digitally stored music data and the offerings of online streaming services in the best possible quality and play music without the need for complex and space-consuming HiFi electronic components.

Due to its volume and the two 165 mm woofers, the RUBICON 6 C is able to produce powerful bass reproduction that reaches deep into the room, even in larger living spaces. The sound level is at least as good as that of the original passive RUBICON models. Their loudspeaker chassis and housing construction are used here unchanged - supplemented by the amplifier technology from the CALLISTO series and wireless audio transmission with the DALI Sound Hub.

The RUBICON 6 C is available in three cabinet finishes: high-gloss white, high-gloss black and satin walnut and is supplied complete with rubber feet to ensure that the loudspeaker stands securely and is both aesthetically and acoustically brilliant.

Housing

The housing of the RUBICON 6 C offers separate chambers for the bass-midrange and woofer. This allows the housing volume to be optimized precisely for the respective chassis and the frequency range it transmits. In addition, there is an individual bass reflex opening directly behind each woofer, which reduces turbulence to a minimum and optimizes the running times between the woofer and the reflex opening. Several internal struts also prevent unwanted housing resonances and sound coloration.

amplifier

The development of a high-quality active loudspeaker system involves many aspects. A really important part is the amplifier, or more precisely: the amplifier module.

Instead of an analogue crossover like in the passive RUBICON 6, the individual chassis of the active RUBICON 6 C are driven directly by a digital sound processor and the two amplifiers integrated in each loudspeaker. This allows the developers to optimally coordinate the DSP, amplifier and driver and achieve particularly detailed reproduction.

One of the two 250 watt amplifiers is reserved for the two 165 mm wood fiber bass-midrange speakers. The combination of a particularly low-loss construction, wood fiber membrane and SMC pole piece means that these woofers have only minimal distortion. Together with the particularly musically designed Class D amplifier, this guarantees extremely detailed and dynamic reproduction.

The Class D amplifiers are based on the latest patented technologies, are self-oscillating and work with a global negative feedback, which is used due to their musical design. In order to adequately reproduce complex musical passages or violent explosions in films, 250 watts of power are available for pulses of up to five seconds.

loudspeaker chassis

woofer

The cone is surrounded by a soft, low-loss rubber surround that was developed from scratch and tailored specifically for the RUBICON drivers. The surround ensures that the diaphragm can move easily and without losing energy.

All components are fixed in an aluminum basket that allows maximum air movement around the cone and magnet system. The use of a non-electrically conductive aluminum basket further ensures that the magnetic field around the magnetic drive is not affected.

The use of SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) in the RUBICON 6 C woofers has many advantages, the most important of which is the significant reduction in distortion caused by mechanical losses in the magnet drive. SMC's unique ability to combine high magnetic conductivity and very low electrical conductivity enables the use of a really good loudspeaker magnet without the disadvantages of conventional designs.

The 'secret' consists of powdered, individually coated magnetic granules that make it possible to form a strong, non-conductive magnet. The conductivity is only about 1/10,000 of that of iron. With SMC, a loudspeaker chassis operates almost free of hysteresis and thus with almost no distortion.

hybrid tweeter

The hybrid tweeter module, which has long since become a DALI trademark, combines a dome tweeter with a ribbon tweeter and thus offers resolution and radiation characteristics superior to all other tweeters.

The extremely soft and light dome membrane is so thin that a coating must be used to reinforce the material and ensure a uniform surface. Computer simulation made it possible to further improve the magnet system and maximize the saturation flux density in the area of the voice coil. This, and the use of an extremely thin magnetic fluid for cooling, means that the tweeter has a very linear force factor throughout the entire excursion, resulting in more controlled movement, greater resilience, and lower distortion.

The second part of the hybrid module, the ribbon, is a magnetostatic tweeter. Four ribbons of conductive material form the active membrane, which is controlled by a strong magnetic field surrounding it. Ribbon tweeters have a very wide dispersion pattern and in combination with the dome, the module covers the frequency range from 2 to 30 kHz. This extreme bandwidth, together with the wide dispersion pattern, represents an important part of the DALI sound philosophy.

firmware update

The firmware of the RUBICON C loudspeakers is the operating system that ensures the system functions properly. The RUBICON C models are always equipped with the latest firmware at the time of production. If there are any changes to the firmware, a new version can be installed at any time.
