IE 900. Every Detail Matters.
The IE 900 goes above and beyond what music lovers normally expect from earphones. It impresses with its incredibly detailed reproduction and tonal lightness. With the IE 900 we have created a true sound microscope that combines art and craftsmanship at the highest level. It reveals what every hi-fi enthusiast is ultimately interested in: the most subtle details and the full sonic splendor of high-quality music recordings. The Sennheiser engineers have used all their know-how to further optimize our well-known 7 mm transducers. Our newly developed X3R (a system of three resonator chambers milled into the housing) and an acoustic vortex channel (the Vortex) bring out the full potential of our TrueResponse broadband transducers.
A sound microscope for passionate listeners
The same applies to music as it does to its recording and reproduction: attention to detail counts at every moment. What was created in the studio or concert hall must not be ruined by inferior reproduction technology. The clear and balanced sound of our 7 mm TrueResponse converters, manufactured in Germany, is characterized by uncompromising audio fidelity when playing music. They reveal new nuances even in titles you thought you knew by heart. The driver membranes consist of an innovative mix of materials. Their precise impulse behavior creates the foundation for unadulterated music reproduction. Every single instrument on a recording can be heard here; their unmistakable tonal signature emerges. And it's not just the skills of the musicians that gain contours in the focus of the IE 900: the structure and acoustic properties of the room in which they played are also recreated in front of the listener's ears. Instead of staying on the surface, he can experience musically and tonally complex passages in all their depth.
when everything is clear
The outstanding tonal purity of the IE 900 is the result of a coherent concept that has only one goal: unadulterated, true-to-the-original reproduction. When designing the IE 900, we made a conscious decision to use only a single, high-quality dynamic transducer. This ruled out all the known problems of multi-driver systems (in particular phase incoherence and the associated distortions caused by overlapping frequency bands) from the outset. The X3R technology is integrated in the housing of each earphone - a system of three so-called Helmholtz resonator chambers and an acoustic vortex channel. The chambers prevent unwanted resonance peaks, which, with simpler solutions, obscure the sound of the original recording. Here we decided on aluminum as the housing material because it allows the necessary processing precision for the three-chamber absorber. Audiophile recordings are works of art and, like valuable paintings, damaging them through careless transport would be unforgivable. The IE 900 reveals the potential of every shot. If it's a masterpiece... you'll hear it.
Structure and chaos: back volume and vortex
A tidy sound image, in which the trained ear can find its way and which is not disturbed by overlays, requires the clean separation of low and medium frequencies. We have set clear limits for this critical frequency range using a so-called back volume. The back volume defines the airflow behind the transducer to achieve the desired tuning. A complex structure - the vortex - is milled into the sound passage of the earphone, in which the acoustic energy is swirled. This creates a natural, fatigue-free sound experience without unpleasant resonances.
Precision and sound competence
The IE 900 is manufactured entirely in our renowned factory in Germany, which is known worldwide for the outstanding quality of the products manufactured here. The material of choice here is aluminum - because it can be precisely machined to create a beautiful and durable home for the electro-acoustic components. A five-axis milling machine removes each individual housing from an aluminum block with the utmost precision – almost like a futuristic sculpture. The anodized housing resists wear and corrosion even with daily music enjoyment in a busy life. So a music lover wants a faithful companion. The converters of each IE 900 are paired in the automatic production with the aim of the smallest possible deviation. The result is a clearly defined stereo stage with no dips or breaks. Enthusiasm for perfection, profound knowledge of acoustic relationships and a manufacturing process with the lowest possible manufacturing tolerances result in a whole at the highest level.
Nothing but music in your head
No background noise should impair the music experience. With the IE 900 you only listen to music; just as it was created - disturbances are left out. It fulfills the desire for hi-fi reference sound without "ifs" and "buts"; at the desk as well as during a walk in the forest or on the train. Professional musicians rely on high-quality, tailor-made "Personal Monitoring Systems". When designing the IE 900, we were inspired by their comfort and secure fit. Because the privilege of enjoying perfect live sound shouldn't be reserved for musicians on the big stages of the world. What is indispensable there for a great performance should also always be part of the enjoyment of music: the highest level of detail. The scope of delivery of the IE 900 includes ear adapter sets made of silicone as well as three viscoelastic ear adapter sets made of foam in three different sizes. They are able to adapt to the anatomy of each ear.
Best connections
In addition to perfect sound, audiophile music lovers expect above all mechanical durability. We also live up to this expectation - among other things with the gold-plated Fidelity+ MMCX connectors, which ensure maximum contact reliability. The socket, which is embedded in a 4.8 mm wide recess, provides bending relief for the plug. And the para-aramid reinforced cables can withstand thousands of flex cycles - that's reassuring when you actually take the IE 900 off every now and then and stow it in the supplied carrying case with an individual serial number. The 3.5mm stereo jack allows connection to a virtually unlimited number of digital audio players, headphone amplifiers, laptops and audio interfaces. In addition, each IE 900 comes with a symmetrical 2.5 mm and 4.4 mm cable, which allow direct connection to high-quality hi-fi components with symmetrical outputs.
