Description of the manufacturer
The amplifier reference is called MAX. Because the gigantic monoblocks surpass all other output stages with even more brilliant performance values.
Resting on laurels once received would be so temptingly easy. And so boring. With the AMP we have monoblocks in our range that are extremely well received by the trade press and users, and that are far and wide without any real competition. What do we do We think about how we can improve the performance values and sound properties again. In places where there is actually nothing that can be improved. We just can't do otherwise. The permanent exploration of what is technically feasible up to what can already be called philosophical limits is our passion. And somehow also what our customers expect from us. Rightly so, as we can prove with the MAX.
The MAX play filigree and elementary, harmoniously pure and gripping. They combine the finest sound culture with irresistible authority. The highest performance is combined here with extraordinary sound and technical results. Our ULA amplifier technology enables linearity, loudspeaker control and return loss that is unmatched anywhere in the world.
The distortions are at such an extremely low level that they are practically no longer detectable even with the most complex measuring methods. In a nutshell: no other amplification system controls speakers better. In addition, the MAX are so powerful that it is hardly possible to imagine a realistic application that they would not be able to cope with with all sovereignty. The MAX also impress with their outstanding ease of use. A large display provides information about all functions.
Technical specifications
The MAX represents the most powerful level of our ULA technology (Ultra-Linear-Amplifier), which is recognized and awarded worldwide. With this highly complex circuit topology, which we originally designed for medical technology, the MAX ensure results that, in terms of measurement and performance, mark the limit of what is feasible today. Signal impurities can practically no longer be detected even under the highest stress or in other borderline situations; The brute power reserves and the unbeatable return loss ensure that even the most demanding speakers play cleanly to their limits.
To ensure absolute channel separation, each MAX is designed as a monoblock. The structure of each individual block is magnetically and capacitively optimized. In this way, repercussions from interfering radiation and interactions between the amplification stages and the power supply unit during the amplification process are largely excluded. The arrangement of the input and output circuits, the power supply and the control system largely prevents the development of capacitive and electromagnetic effects that are damaging to the sound. The massive housing construction made of aluminum also prevents the harmful effects of footfall and airborne noise.
SMD miniaturization technology is consistently used in the MAX monoblocks to optimize the high-frequency properties. All signal paths are reduced to a minimum and do not contain any sound-damaging components such as coupling capacitors, coils or power relays.
Each MAX has two inputs that are switched via gold-plated precision relays. The input stage is designed as a cascoded and bootstrapped differential amplifier with a low-noise, monolithic double FET. This electrically decouples the MAX from the input signal and prevents undesirable effects on the source. A special, double cascode decouples them from the driver and power levels. The driver stage linearizes distortions in the power circuit on site with a unique, networked correction circuit in real time. The input and driver stages are supplied separately by a generously dimensioned 80 VA toroidal transformer with separate windings for the positive and negative operating voltage.
The power stage is equipped with eight selected power MOSFETs. Their quiescent current is actively regulated and amounts to 0.6 A. The supply voltages are stabilized as quickly as possible, using a complex process of discrete and optimized MOSFET controllers. In order to achieve a maximum of unlimited and interference-free performance, the positive and negative operating voltages of the power stage are completely decoupled from each other. Two separate power supplies process the positive and the negative half-wave of the mains supply, each with its own encapsulated 1,000 VA toroidal transformer. Four fast and pulse-resistant high-current capacitors with a total of 156,000 uF filter capacity are used to store electricity.
A microprocessor controls all functions and permanently monitors DC, HF, temperature and overload and switches the MAX off immediately in the event of a fault. The operating status and any errors are shown in plain text on the large, two-line display. Remote activation is possible optically via Audionet-Link and depending on the signal in three sensitivity levels. The control unit is also supplied by its own power pack.
