To celebrate the 250th birthday of music genius Ludwig van Beethoven, Ortofon releases the exclusive Ortofon 2M Black LVB 250 model. Even the 'old' flagship of the 2M range, the 2M Black is widely regarded as one of the best MM cartridges on the market accepted. 'Open, fast, detailed, lively, full of vitality and sonically spectacular', says Marc Mickelson of 'The Audio Beat', for example. But that doesn't mean that Ortofon can't make the 2M Black even better...

What makes the 2M Black LVB 250 even better

The Ortofon 2M Black LVB 250 is of course largely based on the 2M Black, but the detailed solutions of the 2M Black LVB 250 go one step further. With the 2M Black LVB 250, Ortofon put the 'naked' Shibata diamond of the 2M Black on a cantilever made of boron - exactly the combination that also made the Ortofon MC Cadenza Black a celebrated shooting star.

The slim, highly polished profile of the Nude Shibata stylus fits snugly and extensively against the groove walls, ensuring remarkably detailed reproduction across the entire frequency spectrum, including the very highest frequencies. The extremely stiff and light boron cantilever ensures remarkable transparency, speed and responsiveness. MC territory? Easy!

For an optimal compromise between compliance and damping, Ortofon has developed a new rubber for the suspension system, the formula of which is based on a highly efficient nano-filler (MWCNT). In addition, the new rubber compound, which is applied in a rubber polymer matrix and not in powder form, makes production cleaner and more energy-efficient - in a word: more environmentally friendly.
