Using our experience in designing loudspeakers for Steinway Lyngdorf reference home theaters, particularly the outstanding Steinway & Sons LS models, combined with our experience with the Lyngdorf MH and FR loudspeakers, our engineers have developed the LS-1000 for Lyngdorf Audio systems developed. Four LS-1000 modules combine to form a line source loudspeaker, with each module consisting of four 115mm midrange drivers with lightweight aluminum cones, 25mm voice coils and powerful vented magnets driven by eight 1' soft dome tweeters be added. Four LS-1000 modules together result in a line array with 16 midrange drivers and 32 tweeters.

Depending on the width of the room, the seating arrangement, the position of the loudspeakers and the size of the screen, three different LS-1000 models have been developed to ensure optimal sound radiation in the room:

The Lyngdorf LS-1000 Left has a slightly inward sound projection when placed on the left side, away from the side wall and towards the listening area.

With the Lyngdorf LS-1000 Center, the tweeters are mounted in the middle, resulting in a wider dispersion that corresponds to that of the left and right sides. This makes it an ideal choice as a center speaker behind an acoustically transparent screen, or even as left and right speakers to achieve the widest possible listening area in a large room.

The Lyngdorf LS-1000 Right has a slightly inward directivity when placed on the right side, away from the side wall and towards the listening area.

Reduced floor and ceiling reflections and even sound energy in the room

The LS-1000 consists of multiple identical drivers in a vertical line source array. Compared to traditional point source speakers, a line source minimizes the effects of floor and ceiling reflections by limiting vertical sound propagation. The listener hears more from the speaker and less from the room. The LS-1000 also maintains its sound energy throughout the room, so the perceived volume level is very consistent from every seat. The 'sweet spot' opens up significantly in all directions.

Special LS models for left, right and middle placement

Three different LS-1000 models have been developed for optimal sound dispersion in the room. The LS-1000 Left radiates slightly inward when positioned on the left side, away from the side wall and toward the listening area. The LS-1000 Right radiate slightly inwards when placed on the right side. With the LS-1000 Center, the tweeters are center mounted, resulting in a wider dispersion pattern that matches that of the left and right sides.

Very rigid and low profile modular construction, easy to install

The LS-1000 is a very rigid modular construction that minimizes mechanical resonance. The overall cabinet design is slim and very flat, making installation behind acoustically transparent shields very easy. The stacked modules connect via built-in contact pins, eliminating the need for external speaker cables between modules.

Easy to combine with amplifiers

With an IEC power handling capacity of 300 watts, a sensitivity of 98 dB 2.83 V/1m and a combined impedance of 4 ohms when using four modules, the LS-1000 is easy to combine with amplifiers. The high sensitivity combined with the typically even sound energy of a line source in the room enables the LS-1000 to reach very high volumes while sounding very effortless with the given amplifier power. The frequency range from 20,000 Hz down to 100 Hz allows the LS-1000 to be seamlessly complemented with various woofers or subwoofers, ideally with the Lyngdorf BW-20.
