Since time immemorial, the summer solstice has been viewed by people as a mystical day. Some even celebrate it with secular or religious ceremonies.

This year, Naim Audio is not only celebrating the summer solstice, but also something else entirely:

The release of the first record player.

For vinyl lovers, there's nothing more beautiful than the organic, natural sound of a record. The limited-edition Solstice series focuses all the purity, passion, and technical perfection that defines Naim on record playback: In nearly 50 years of company history, the Solstice is their first turntable .

More than just a record player

The Solstice is available exclusively as a strictly limited special edition , which includes the turntable, a modernized version of the legendary Aro tonearm, the Equinox MC cartridge, the Solstice power supply, the Solstice phono stage, and a tailor-made accessory and tool kit.

Tonearm Aro:

Even after the advent of the CD in the 1980s, Naim continued its commitment to vinyl, producing the legendary ARO tonearm in 1989. The ARO has always set the standard for delivering incredibly natural, organic, and lifelike music reproduction. Its design allows the cartridge to extract enormous amounts of information from a record's grooves, with an incredible sense of fluidity and accuracy in the resulting sound.

High-quality materials for improved performance:
Updating the Aro for the Solstice Special Edition retained the design principles and outstanding performance of the original, but further enhanced performance through the use of improved materials—including tungsten and carbon fiber—and the addition of all-new, no-compromise preload, arm height, and azimuth adjustment.

The new Aro may be even stiffer, but its approach is more flexible: It retains the familiar three-point mounting—which maximizes the integrity of the critical interface with the Equinox pickup—but also has slotted two-point mounts for alternative pickups. Finally, there's even a raise/lower mechanism.

Equinox (MC) pickup

Engineered with Swiss watchmaking precision:
The interior of the Equinox cartridge, the moving coil (MC), is housed in a solid aluminum housing milled from a single block. A slanted, silver-polished bevel runs across the cartridge's black edges, revealing the invisible facets of the diamond stylus and a nod to the traditional Naim 'chrome bumper' design.

Phono stage Solstice (NVC TT)

With the goal of creating a beautifully sounding phono stage that is both simple and flexible to operate, Naim drew inspiration from earlier designs such as the SuperLine, as well as the pinnacle of Naim engineering: the Statement amplifier. The Solstice series phono stage is the first to feature the discrete controls developed for this flagship amplifier.

Under the leadership of Technical Director Steve Sells, Naim's experienced engineers have developed simple yet elegant circuits powered by high-performance DR technology, which delivers the smooth, stable power supply essential for top-level performance. Our production engineers then select high-quality components and meticulously measure, select, and match them.

Solstice power supply (NPX TT)

The Solstice Series power supply is a custom design that powers both the turntable and the phono stage. For ultimate performance, these two separate power supplies are fully isolated, eliminating the risk of interference.

While the Solstice series' NVC TT phono stage and NPX TT power supply are handcrafted in Salisbury, Clearaudio's NVS TT turntable, ARO arm, and Equinox cartridge are manufactured to exacting Naim's unique design.

Complete playback system from a single source

The Solstice Special Edition contains all the components necessary for perfect vinyl playback. Naim developed it entirely in-house as a perfectly harmonious system to deliver the best vinyl sound ever heard. And all this without the usual complications and in a modern, unified design: All Solstice components have been developed and coordinated with and for each other. Nothing was left to chance.

The special edition is rounded out by an exclusive hardcover book and a vinyl album specially produced by Naim Records. The worldwide production run of Solstice systems is limited to 500 units , making each one a rare collector's item.
