Utopianism for Klimax Solo 800

Linn's brand new, Utopik switching power supply topology for the Klimax Solo 800 offers precisely regulated power rails. It offers the best of both worlds, producing a maximum power of 2kW while maintaining speed, responsiveness and unparalleled efficiency. The output voltage remains extremely stable even when the load changes dramatically. And when the mains voltage changes, the output power remains stable and ultra-pure.

With Utopik for Klimax Solo 800, Linn has taken a step further to minimize switching noise and improve efficiency by using a technique called 'soft switching'. A resonant tank circuit causes the voltage across the switch to drop to zero before the switch is flipped. Thanks to soft switching, Utopik for Klimax Solo 800 is cleaner, more efficient and remains whisper-quiet across the entire operating range.

Adaptive bias control

The Klimax Solo 800 features Linn's original Adaptive Bias Control technology. This means that the ideal operating point current for each of the amplifier's sixteen output transistors is determined dynamically and in real time by measuring, sampling and digitizing the supplied current.

A digital control loop then implements and adjusts this optimal operating point current specifically for each individual transistor. This eliminates crosstalk distortion at any temperature - regardless of volume or demanding dynamic changes in the music - throughout the life of the amplifier.

Cool running

The Klimax Solo 800 has excellent heat management and can drive even the most demanding loads without compromising linearity or requiring the use of an internal fan.

Excellent heat dissipation is achieved by mounting the amplifier and power supply directly on the critically efficient, large area heatsink. This cool running design is crucial for exceptional clarity up to 800W at 4O and 1.2kW at 2O.

The temperature inside the amplifier is minimized to ensure that the characteristics of its internal components remain consistent even during the loudest and most demanding musical passages. It ensures consistency, efficiency and longevity at all times.
