Reduction to the essentials – with maximum sound gain

Phonosophie pursued a clear goal in developing the PAS 1: maximum musicality by minimizing interference. Unlike many other music servers, the PAS 1 deliberately dispenses with features that could harm sound quality. No loud fans, no superfluous graphical user interfaces, no uncontrolled background processes. Instead, Phonosophie relies on a specially optimized, audiophile Linux operating system developed specifically for the PAS 1.

The result is an extremely clean, quiet and dynamically impressive music reproduction, in which even the smallest sound details and the finest spatial characteristics become audible.

Sound-optimized design down to the last detail

The PAS 1's enclosure is fully resonance-optimized, protecting the sensitive electronics from vibrations and electromagnetic interference. Only select components are used internally – from the linear power supply with a special RF filter to the acoustically optimized SSD. Even the network and USB interfaces are specifically tuned for audiophile use.

For Phonosophie, a music server is not a computer, but a musical instrument – and so the PAS 1 was consistently developed as such.

Operation and compatibility

The PAS 1 operates on the server side with MinimServer or Logitech Media Server (LMS) and can be easily controlled via DLNA-compatible apps such as BubbleUPnP, mconnect, or Linn Kazoo. It can be connected to external DACs, streamers, or network players via USB or Ethernet. Managing your music library is straightforward via any device on your home network—the PAS 1 itself operates quietly and invisibly in the background.

Optionally, the server's sound can be further optimized with Phonosophie network cables and the company's proprietary activator concept.

High flexibility in music storage

The PAS 1 is available with various storage options, including an internal SSD or HDD with up to several terabytes of storage capacity. This provides ample space for large, high-resolution music collections. Music management and transfer is done either via network or USB, with the internal SSD operating completely silently and ensuring fast access to all content.

In addition, the server can support both locally stored music files and streaming services – the latter depending on the respective software solution (e.g. LMS with TIDAL/Qobuz plugins).

Like all Phonosophie products, the PAS 1 is developed and handcrafted in Hamburg. This guarantees the highest quality workmanship, a long service life, and the possibility of individual customization.
