This device is a used device and is in good condition.

The Ayon Spirit III is a tube integrated amplifier that combines classic amplifier design with modern technology. The version described here features KT120 power tubes , which ensure high output power, stability, and sonic poise. The Spirit III is therefore aimed at listeners who appreciate the special charm of tubes but don't want to forgo everyday usability, power reserves, and flexibility.

Structure and concept

The Ayon Spirit III is a purebred tube integrated amplifier characterized by its clean lines, solid construction, and uncluttered control concept. The cabinet is made of robust steel and aluminum, which not only ensures high stability but also reliably suppresses vibrations and resonances. Visually, it features the typical Ayon design with a striking front panel, inset brand lettering, and freestanding power tubes perched on the cover plate, radiating warmth and allure even when not in use.

The circuitry is consistently symmetrical. All signal paths are kept as short as possible to minimize losses and convey the pure sound character. Ayon uses handcrafted transformers and carefully selected components in the Spirit III to ensure the high quality standards.

KT120 power tubes and performance values

In the version presented here, the Spirit III features four KT120 power tubes . These tubes are considered particularly powerful and are characterized by high power handling, long lifespan, and a balanced sound. The amplifier offers optional operation in pentode or triode mode , allowing you to choose between maximum power output and a particularly fine, harmonious sound.

The output power is up to 65 watts per channel in pentode mode and approximately 35 watts per channel in triode mode. This gives the Spirit III ample power to drive even demanding speakers with ease. The automatic bias adjustment simplifies operation, eliminating the need for manual adjustment.

Equipment and connections

The Spirit III is a pure integrated amplifier equipped with high-level inputs. It features several line inputs for connecting various source devices such as CD players, streaming clients, or phono preamplifiers. Ayon deliberately omitted an integrated phono section to keep the signal paths clear and unadulterated.

The speaker terminals are solid and accept banana plugs, spade lugs, or bare wires. A high-quality aluminum remote control is provided for remote control of the most important functions.

Sound characteristics

In terms of sound, the Spirit III proves to be an amplifier with character and versatility. In triode mode, it delivers a special warmth, fine resolution, and naturalness that lends vocals and acoustic instruments a touching authenticity. Pentode mode, on the other hand, provides more dynamics, tighter bass, and greater power reserves, which are particularly beneficial for complex musical passages or power-hungry speakers.

The KT120 power tubes give the amplifier a foundation that makes it sound confident and controlled even at high levels. At the same time, the sound remains free of harshness and preserves the typical tube musicality that many listeners appreciate so much.

Processing and suitability for everyday use

Ayon places great emphasis on build quality with the Spirit III. All components are carefully selected, and the circuitry is clearly laid out and robust. Despite its power, the amplifier remains suitable for everyday use: the automatic quiescent current setting significantly reduces maintenance, and the tubes are designed for a long service life.

In practice, the device is not only a sonic tool, but also a visual highlight. The illuminated tubes create an atmosphere during operation that underscores the amplifier's unique character.
