These speakers are used and in good condition.

With the Codex, Audio Physic has created a floorstanding loudspeaker that combines technological innovation, precise engineering, and uncompromising musicality. The current version, featuring a PowerTrain upgrade, delivers significant improvements in the midrange and sets new standards in its class.

Construction and housing structure

The Audio Physic Codex is designed as a four-way floorstanding speaker . It features a low-resonance cabinet constructed using a sandwich construction . An elastic center layer provides mechanical decoupling, while internal bracing made of open-cell ceramic foam ensures maximum stability with minimal volume loss. This construction contributes significantly to precise and low-distortion music reproduction.

With dimensions of 1,195 × 202 × 370 mm (H × W × D), the Codex blends harmoniously into a wide variety of living spaces despite its technical complexity. Depending on the model, it weighs between 38 and 44 kilograms – depending on the chosen finish in real wood or high-gloss glass.

Driver assembly and PowerTrain technology

The heart of the Codex is its sophisticated driver configuration . For the high-frequency range, Audio Physic relies on the HHCT III tweeter (Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter) , which, thanks to its low weight and high rigidity, enables brilliant yet refined high-frequency reproduction.

The newly developed HHCM SL driver performs in the midrange. It dispenses with the conventional spider and is thus part of the PowerTrain technology . This solution reduces mechanical losses and avoids compression effects that can occur with conventional designs. The result is an even freer, more natural, and high-resolution reproduction of vocals and instruments.

The system is complemented by a 7-inch mid-woofer with an aluminum cone in a double-surround design, which seamlessly transitions to the bass range. For the low frequencies, Audio Physic relies on a 250 mm woofer , which is invisibly installed inside the cabinet. This unique solution allows for impressive bass reproduction without compromising the speaker's design.

Frequency response, sensitivity and power requirements

The Codex covers a frequency range of 28 Hz to 40 kHz , offering an exceptionally wide spectrum that encompasses both the deepest bass and the finest treble. Sensitivity is 89 dB , and the nominal impedance is 4 ohms .

For optimal control, the manufacturer recommends amplifier power between 40 and 250 watts . This makes the Codex equally suitable for powerful transistor amplifiers as well as fine-tuned tube designs, provided the power ratings are appropriate.

Connections and expansion options

The Codex's connectors are mechanically decoupled and equipped with high-quality WBT (VCT) terminals . This ensures low-loss signal transmission. Bi-wiring or bi-amping configurations are optionally available. Furthermore, the Codex can be equipped with our proprietary VCF Vibration Control Feet , which provide additional mechanical decoupling from the floor.

Design and finishes

The Codex is available in a variety of finishes, including classic wood veneers and elegant high-gloss glass versions . This selection allows the speaker to be perfectly integrated into your listening room, both visually and acoustically.

Sound character and special features

Expert reviews confirm that the Codex offers a particularly holographic soundstage and precise instrument spacing. The bass is described as powerful, deep, yet controlled , while the midrange achieves exceptional naturalness and transparency thanks to the PowerTrain technology. The highs sound finely resolved without ever sounding aggressive.

These sonic characteristics make the Codex a universally applicable loudspeaker that shows its strengths in both orchestral classical music and modern productions.
