This article set contains the Classic Compact 2 loudspeakers (pair) and the matching loudspeaker Sherpa V. A really strong audio physics duo.

CLASSIC COMPACT 2

With the new CLASSIC Compact 2, AUDIO PHYSIC interprets the term 'downsizing' in two ways: on the one hand, it is very compact in its external dimensions, on the other hand, many experiences and technical details from the 'large' models have flowed into its construction.

A housing with a sandwich construction made from three different materials is also used in the second generation of the compact CLASSIC. The different layers each have different damping properties, which when combined result in an exemplary solid body that is practically immune to partial vibrations and resonances. With their high-gloss glass surface, the sound transducers also look elegant and timeless at the same time in any environment.

The CLASSIC Compact 2 also proves its technological maturity through its chassis technology. The unique AUDIO PHYSIC double basket construction is now used in the smallest model of the CLASSIC series. This pioneering design drastically reduces the mechanical transmission of micro-vibrations between the chassis and the case, and improves the sound quality considerably.

Thanks to its woven fiberglass membrane, the powerful bass-midrange driver maintains its calm even at high levels. Partial vibrations of the membrane that disturb the sound, the so-called 'breaking open' at certain frequencies, are not an issue with this material. At the same time, the membrane is light enough to reproduce even fast impulses concisely and precisely.

A fixed phase plug helps to cool the powerful drive and reduces compression effects in the critical mid-frequency range, in which the human ear is particularly sensitive to tonal discoloration. That is why the CLASSIC Compact 2 offers an extremely natural reproduction of timbres and voices that is otherwise not to be found in this size and price class.

So that the fabric dome of the tweeter, manufactured by a German specialist company, always has optimal working conditions, even under heavy use, the tweeter's magnet system is also ventilated. Thanks to the powerful drive and the low natural resonance, the tweeter achieves exemplary signal fidelity far beyond the audible limit. A small horn-shaped sound guide around the actual dome ensures a seamless transition between mids and highs and thus enables a wide, open and precise spatial image, even for listening positions a little outside the so-called sweet spot.

The bass reflex construction of the CLASSIC Compact 2 ensures a solid bass foundation. Instead of a classic bass reflex tube, however, the sandwich construction of the side walls is used for sound guidance. This unique AUDIO PHYSIC technology avoids the system-related disadvantages of a bass reflex tube and allows far fewer unwanted sound components to escape.

With a loudspeaker from AUDIO PHYSIC, qualitative compromises are never an option, and that is why the CLASSIC Compact 2 already has high-quality WBT pole terminals from the nextgen® series. These are insensitive to mass storage and eddy current effects, and when using cable lugs, a smart torque indicator reliably shows when the ideal contact pressure has been reached for a permanently perfect contact.

The CLASSIC Compact 2 is small enough to find space on any shelf, but it unfolds its full sound potential on a stable speaker stand such as the AUDIO PHYSIC SHERPA II. For perfect sound in every situation, we also recommend the AUDIO PHYSIC VCF II COMPONENT or VCF II MAGNETIC COMPONENT. These optional Vibration Control Feet protect sensitive surfaces, decouple the loudspeaker from the ground and thus noticeably increase the sound performance of the CLASSIC Compact 2.

Despite its small size, you can easily use the CLASSIC Compact 2 as the main speaker in a small stereo system. Combined with other Compact 2 or other speakers from the CLASSIC series, the CLASSIC Center 2 and our subwoofer LUNA, however, a multichannel set that is perfectly coordinated both visually and acoustically can be put together in many different combinations.
