The ROTATION R 30.3 at a glance

The AVM R 30.3 is the youngest member of the AVM turntable family and offers a perfect analogue addition to the AVM 30 line of devices introduced as part of the 30th AVM company anniversary. The typical AVM design language has been elegantly incorporated and so the device is suitable not only for supplementing existing AVM systems but also as an entry into the AVM analogue world.

The success story started at High End 2018 with the introduction of two AVM turntables:

The top model, the ROTATION R 5.3, sets numerous technical and innovative accents in terms of the drive. The complex elipso-centric belt drive is an example. It achieves a completely unloaded platter axis with a tilting moment of 0.0. Not only the spring-loaded drive, but especially the 10'' tonearm developed by AVM made of highly polished aluminum components are acoustic, technological and aesthetic delicacies of the R 5.3.

The R 2.3 appeared at the same time as the R 5.3. This now serves as a direct source of ideas for the development of the new AVM R 30.3. Based on the design features of the R 2.3, the R 30.3 adopts several clear borrowings. The highlight of the R 30.3 is the identically adopted 9'' tonearm with its sophisticated detailed solutions. This tonearm is a completely proprietary AVM construction. It effortlessly carries all well-known pick-up systems on the world market. It is also possible to mount your own, high-quality AVM Cadenza pickups and this shows the full potential of the tonearm.

The stable, ultra low mass tonearm is based on a solid, refined aluminum tube. In combination with the stable and precise tonearm bearing, it offers the basis for a powerful sound. The silicone-damped counterweight effectively prevents the reflection of micro-vibrations in the direction of the tonearm and the pickup system, thus guaranteeing a pure, clearly defined sound image.

All Rotation turntable models have frames made of heavy composite material (in different thicknesses) in common. These frames are made of cement-powdered HDF, glued to hand-polished anodized aluminum parts and thus additionally reinforced. The use of different materials creates a vibration-damping sandwich structure that offers an almost completely resonance-free, solid substructure for the matt and internally illuminated acrylic turntable. The precise upside-down bearings are other precision parts that are primarily responsible for the remarkably smooth running of the R 30.3. An intelligent, fully electronic look-forward servo control allows the turntable to rotate precisely and constantly.
