The Xtension 10 is perfect for anyone who loves the sound quality of the larger Xtension but is looking for a device with a rack-compatible width of 48 cm. All of our experience from more than 20 years of turntable construction is incorporated here. The chassis of the Xtension 10 is made of metal-granulate-filled MDF, which enables high mass and low resonance. Magnetic field feet ensure optimal decoupling of the 22 kg Xtension 10, which represents a perfect symbiosis of the principles of a mass drive and subchassis. Two homopolar magnets in the feet make the turntable virtually float. The special turntable platter of the Xtension 10 Evolution is not made of resonance-prone metal, as is the case with the Japanese classics, but is a proprietary design made from a special cast metal alloy, which is bonded to recycled vinyl records and then finely balanced after a heat treatment. The heavy platter is internally damped with a Sorbothane® strip. The result is a heavy, completely resonance-free turntable that glides smoothly on a magnetically supported, inverted ceramic bearing. The Pro-Ject 10cc Evolution tonearm is decoupled from the chassis by Sorbothane and features a mass tonearm base that eliminates unwanted vibrations and ensures interference-free tracking. The 10cc Evolution comes with four different counterweights, allowing adaptation to almost any top-of-the-line cartridge with a mass of 4 to 14 grams.
Pro-Ject Audio Systems ships its high-end turntables with premium 5-pin to RCA tonearm cables as standard, but also with balanced premium 5-pin to XLR tonearm cables upon request. This ensures an optimal connection to the Pro-Ject Phono Box RS phono preamplifier. The balanced connection provides superior vinyl playback with balanced sources.
NOTE: To benefit from the superior quality of balanced signal transmission, both devices must have balanced connectors. Balanced signal processing significantly reduces the effects of external interference.
