New edition of a Pro-Ject classic

After more than 30 years, it's time to remember a classic Pro-Ject product that was revolutionary then and still is. The P5 was the fifth product Pro-Ject launched.

Heinz Lichtenegger has always been on the lookout for sonic improvements, especially for analogue products. He soon realized that mechanical grounding of a turntable was essential for a clean and dynamically open, unadulterated sound. Heinz got the best results by coupling his turntable to a large mass object. The idea was to transfer all vibrations - coming from both external and internal sources - to this large mass body. The actual mass is either the wall (brick or concrete) or the floor. Mounting the turntable on a lightweight, rigid wall console or rack is the best way to mass transfer all resonance and vibration. Given this idea, Heinz Lichtenegger and his good friend Heinrich Prohaska designed a revolutionary wall console to accomplish this task. They based their design on research from the Technical University of Vienna.

Frame strength and material and shape

The WMI Rack 5/4 leverages this research into a design that precisely calculates the shape, size and angular construction of the steel frames to eliminate the propagation of resonances. Any remaining resonances are transported and coupled to your high-mass mounting surface. Solid walls are perfect for giving you the high bulk you need. The round D-shape of the frame guarantees that all vibrations reach the wall in the shortest possible way!
