White Lightning Analog Interconnect Cable
The perceived value of a cable is strongly conveyed by its diameter, which is why many cables are 'enriched' with filling elements. However, from a technical point of view, such supplements are not useless in a harmless way: They hinder the flow of signals due to electrical and mechanical interactions, so the 'liveliness' and energy of the playback are lost. Unnecessarily thick cables may look more impressive, but will hardly be able to convince musically.
Because it ultimately depends on audiophile quality, Nordost relies on the principle of 'less is more' when designing audio cables: superior materials and construction principles make a good cable. Four oxygen-free, silver-plated solid core copper conductors with a cross-section of 0.4 mm2 are used in each White Lightning Interconnect, each one encased in a precisely extruded FEP layer with low capacitance. These conductors are wound into a precisely wound and mechanically stable arrangement that ensures the same spacing between the conductors and a uniformly twisted shape. This strand is then surrounded by a fine protective braid and an FEP sheath.
The principle of maximum effectiveness and precision continues with this construction until the selection of the most suitable connectors: The cables of the Leif series are assembled by hand in the USA with particularly light Neutrik RCA connectors or symmetrical XLR connectors. Only silver solder is used in order to meet the requirements of the RoHS directive and to ensure the quality and durability of every connection.
The result is an audio cable that comes as close as possible to the hi-fi ideal: absolute signal integrity, nothing is added to the music and nothing is obscured.
