The new Technics SL-1200M7L
For the 50th anniversary of the legendary SL1200 series.
More vinyl, more technics
'Age doesn't matter, the main thing is that everything still works', you might think when you're over 50. With Technics' SL1200, it goes without saying that it works: the seventh edition of the legendary DJ turntable whose ancestors are still in use is now available. The DJs and the ever-growing vinyl community need supplies. Technics knows that and also delivers.
SL1200M7L debut celebrated
To present the new Technics SL1200M7L, seven well-known DJs were invited to perform on the M7Ls for an hour each. Certain record shops were chosen as the location. The whole thing could be followed live on the internet on Boilerroom.
Some of these streams are still available as video. Gilles Peterson (legendary radio DJ at the BBC, meanwhile also over 50) can be seen among others. The two M7Ls simply do their job under his hands and in the background the audience enjoys Gilles music.
Limited edition
Each turner has its own product number on a plaque next to the Technics logo. The golden tone arm actually harmonizes with all seven available colors (black, white, red, beige, green, blue, yellow).
Also included is a Control Vinyl sticker in the same color as the turntable, a Limited Edition Technics sticker and, more importantly, a slipmat with a gold Technics logo. The Technics SL1200M7L is limited to 12,000 pieces.
Reliable, tested and easy to use
The proven features of the MK7 have been adopted. The M7L also has the white LED needle lighting, the solid motor, the reverse play function and the die-cast aluminum chassis, paired with ABS plastic with glass fiber reinforcement for the best possible low vibration.
As with the MK7, the gimballed tonearm with the Technics typical S-shape is well balanced and very easy to use - all settings, for example after changing the cartridge, can of course be carried out without tools.
A word about the scanners
The Technics SL1200M7L can be used both as a work tool and privately. DJs know relatively well which pickups they prefer. For use on the home system, we also recommend higher-quality pickups. A Soundsmith Otello or a JT80BK are a useful addition to the Technics SL1200 M7L at home. At least for those who listen more closely. And if you would like to try a little, you can quickly switch to the second, third or fourth scanner via additional headshells.
