Technics SB-C600
Technics introduces the SB-C600 bookshelf speaker. "When people talk about Technics, most hi-fi and music lovers immediately think of the brand's legendary turntables, which have become real icons - real milestones for use in home hi-fi systems and reliable standard tools for DJs", as Frank Balzuweit, Product Manager Technics Europe, explains. "Actually, the very first product to be produced under the Technics name in 1965 was a small 2-way bookshelf speaker," Frank Balzuweit continues. "This compact loudspeaker was able to convince with a sound quality that was hardly possible at that time".
The compact SB-C600 2-way loudspeaker is designed as a bass reflex construction and, thanks to its unique coaxial driver, works according to the "Linear Phase" principle as an acoustically ideal point sound source. Its sophisticated technology was adopted in many details from the much larger sister model SB-G90M2.
In order to optimize all components such as loudspeaker chassis and housing for the best possible sound quality, the latest computer analyzes and simulation software were used in the development of the new SB-C600. Disturbing housing resonances and possible driver distortions have been effectively reduced to an absolute minimum - the best prerequisites for excellent and crystal-clear music reproduction.
Features and technical specifications:
- Phase Precision Driver: The construction of the coaxial driver was taken over from the chassis of the large floorstanding speaker SB-G90M2. A mid-bass driver with a 15 cm membrane and a 25 mm aluminum dome in the center act as a quasi-point sound source with excellent phase characteristics. This ensures precise resolution and realistic spatial imaging.
- Linear Phase Plug: As in the SB-G90M2, this ensures optimal phase linearity and enables a seamless transition between mid and high frequency reproduction without annoying distortion.
- Balanced Driver Mounting Architecture (BDMA): The woofer was mounted at its center of gravity on a second baffle inside the cabinet. Since the driver unit is not mounted directly on the baffle, vibrations from the chassis that reduce the sound are not transmitted to the cabinet. The sound impresses with a much more precise image and remains amazingly realistic and uncolored down to the finest nuances.
- The shape of the bass reflex opening on the front of the housing was reduced to the minimum of ventilation noise by means of an accurate analysis of the air flow and a "vortex generator".
- The extremely stable housing structure, in combination with the second, inner baffle, effectively suppresses resonances and thus disruptive influences on the sound. The result of these complex technological innovations is a wide, fine-resolution sound image with precise spatial imaging and excellent depth gradation.
