True 4K resolution thanks to advanced DLP technology

The BenQ W4000i 4K home theater projector meets the requirements for true 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) resolution according to the Consumers Technology Association (CTA) criteria. According to these criteria, a 4K UHD device must be capable of displaying 8.3 million pixels on the screen. The W4000i utilizes the most advanced DLP 0.47" DMD technology. With millions of micromirrors and a fast switching speed, the DLP 4K UHD chipset achieves the CTA specification of 8.3 million individual pixels per image. This corresponds to four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p.

DLP 4K UHD technology: True 4K resolution through pixel shifting

Texas Instruments' DLP 4K UHD technology enables pixel shifting technology, which achieves true 4K resolution of 8.3 million pixels, regardless of the DMD chip's native pixel count. This technology can not only double the resolution of 2716 x 1528 pixels (0.66' DMD) but also perfectly quadruple the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (0.47' DMD). This is achieved through lightning-fast pixel shifting to generate 8.3 million pixels.

High-frequency noise in 4K DLP technology

To ensure smooth images at 4K resolution, True 4K DLP technology uses high-speed pixel shifting and pixel overlay to generate the 8.3 million pixels. This may result in slight vibration, which may cause mild high-frequency noise.
