In order for records to sound true to the original, the platter must rotate at exactly the right speed - constantly, without 'fluttering'. Strobe it shows rings arranged in a circle, which indicate the correct speed and the constancy of the rotation at the common mains frequencies 50Hz and 60Hz under a mains-clocked light source.
How? Please note the ring that matches the speed and mains frequency. In Europe apply for 33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm with 50Hz. Put the strobe it on the turntable and start the turntable. The tone arm remains in its resting position. Now you point a mains-operated light source – preferably a real strobe – onto the Strobe it rotating on the turntable. The strokes of the previously memorized ring should now appear to be standing still. If they seem to wander slightly forward or backward, the speed is either too fast or too slow.
Please note: This only works with lamps that operate at mains frequency. Daylight, fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps) and flashlights and LEDs that run on batteries/DC are not suitable.
On the back you will also find a template for adjusting the overhang when installing the pickup.
