The sound quality of vinyl records improves significantly if undesired resonances that arise between the record and the turntable during playback are reduced. Therefore, the platter and platter should be closely connected.
Conventional plate pucks try to achieve this goal through their high dead weight, which can have 2 main disadvantages:
1) The higher weight causes an increase in the rumble because the main bearings of inexpensive turntables are not as good quality.
2) Instead of the desired closer contact between platter and platter, the opposite is often achieved: Due to the heavy weight in the middle of the platter, a bowl is formed, the edge of which has no contact with the platter.
Both of these impair the reproduction precision audibly.
Clamp it avoids both mistakes and represents the ideal solution. The clamping mechanism is simply placed on the center axis of the turntable, without increasing the weight and the associated rumbling.
