The MHA50 has wired inputs for Apple iOS and many Android1 devices, as well as Mac and Windows computers. It can also connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX technology to ensure you only enjoy the best sound quality from your Bluetooth.

Equipped with a high-performance 32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), it decodes music files from almost any digital source and outputs audio signals superior to your device alone. It supports 32-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio, DSD64, DSD128, DXD352.8, DXD384 files and USB asynchronous audio. The generous 3,000mAh battery offers up to 6 hours of playback on a single charge when connected to a source device via Bluetooth. Playback may take longer when using the wired connections.

The MHA50 is comparable to smartphones: compact and lightweight for easy portability with a slanted body that fits comfortably in your hand or pocket. The sleek design features a glass front panel with a touch-sensitive volume control inspired by the classic controls found on many McIntosh amps, preamps and other products. It is primarily constructed from heavy-duty extruded aluminum, which also has some inherent noise-isolating properties to prevent external interference.

Two gain settings allow the MHA50 to work with all types of headphones, from small in-ear models to large over-ear studio designs like our MHP1000 Headphones (sold separately); It can drive headphones with impedances from 8-600 ohms. Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) naturally adds an extra dimension to your music and can be easily switched on and off depending on your preference. All audio signals are output via a gold-plated 3.5mm jack that connects the MHA50 to your headphones. This jack can also be connected to a pair of powered desktop speakers, allowing the MHA50 to act as a desktop DAC.

The MHA50 comes complete with a luxury leather case, Lightning to USB A cable for Apple devices, USB Micro B to USB Micro B cable for Android devices, USB Micro B to USB-C OTG cable and a USB Micro-B to USB-A cable for Mac and Windows PCs.
