The chassis of the Xtension 9 is made of MDF filled with metal granules to minimize resonance and increase mass. Magnetic feet effectively decouple the 16 kg turntable from its base, virtually allowing it to float, creating a perfect symbiosis of the principles of a mass-driven turntable and subchassis. The special turntable of the Xtension 9 Evolution is not made of resonance-prone metal, but rather a proprietary design made of a special, perfectly balanced cast metal alloy, damped with TPE, and using recycled vinyl records as a mat. The result is a heavy, completely resonance-free turntable that glides smoothly on a magnetically supported, inverted ceramic bearing. The Xtension 9 Evolution comes complete with the high-end 9cc Evolution tonearm.
The turntable is available with or without a preset cartridge in the Xtension 9 Evolution SuperPack. Pro-Ject Audio Systems ships its high-end turntables with premium 5-pin to RCA tonearm cables as standard, but also with balanced premium 5-pin to XLR tonearm cables upon request. This ensures an optimal connection to the Pro-Ject Phono Box RS phono preamplifier. The balanced connection provides superior vinyl playback with balanced sources.
NOTE: To benefit from the superior quality of balanced signal transmission, both devices must have balanced connectors. Balanced signal processing significantly reduces the effects of external interference.
