Slim and compact
The 704 S3 from Bowers & Wilkins is the most compact floorstanding loudspeaker from the 700 S3 series. If space is tight, it offers the perfect compromise between high-fidelity music playback and unobtrusive design.
bass
The little one from B&W also has two large Aerofoil Profile woofers, for whose bass pressure the English loudspeaker specialists are known.
middle and treble
Thanks to the decoupled Continuum membrane of the FST™ midrange driver, which is of course also used in the 704 S3, it is able to produce a crystal-clear
to reproduce the midrange. Together with the carbon dome tweeter, the Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 opens up new horizons for the listener, especially in small listening rooms.
Features and Specifications
- 3-way floorstanding speakers
- Weight: 21 kg (per piece)
- W/H/D: 252/964/321 (incl. base)
The new 700 S3 series
Solid body tweeter
The 700 Series features the latest generation of solid body tweeters. Its new, longer design ensures even fewer reflections and an even more open treble. The carefully decoupled housing is milled from a solid block of aluminum to prevent resonance even more effectively.
Carbon dome tweeter
The new carbon dome tweeter has been specially developed for the 700 series. It offers a dramatic improvement over the aluminum twin dome tweeter found in the 700 S2. The carbon dome tweeter is even more accurate in the mapping of the upper frequencies and provides a wealth of details.
Midrange driver with Continuum™ cone
For a real technical development you sometimes have to think unconventionally. The transition from B&W's famous yellow aramid fiber midrange cones to the new Continuum cone technology resulted in a massive improvement in midrange performance. Now B&W engineers have turned to another crucial element of the speaker cone: the web spider. The new biomimetic suspension revolutionizes the performance of the midrange cone once again. Undesirable air movements are effectively reduced. Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the typical partial vibrations of a conventional drive unit. The result is a transparent midrange that has to be heard.
Each three-way speaker in the new 700 Series features a dedicated midrange cone that features four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum™ cone, FST™ technology, Biomimetic Suspension, and midrange decoupling, which transitions to the woofer improved.
Aerofoil™ basses
The Aerofoil™ profiles of B&W basses were developed using state-of-the-art computers. The variable thickness bass cone provides high stiffness and strength where it is needed most. The result is deep and dynamic bass.
The case
The new 700 series has a curved front baffle for the first time. The midrange and woofers are housed in individual housings. This significantly reduces the negative influence of the housing. The best proof of this is the successful 800 series from Bowers & Wilkins.
The surfaces
The 700 S3 are available in high gloss black, matt white and brand new, with wood grain in mocha.
