Analog input stage
The basis of the amplifier No. 5805 is a patent-pending, fully discrete, direct-coupled circuit design with dual-mono construction and line-level preamplifier. A single gain stage coupled with a digitally controlled resistor ladder network for volume control ensures maximum signal integrity and wide bandwidth. The three stereo line-level inputs, including a balanced XLR input and two single-ended connectors, have their own signal switching relays.
Digital audio
The no. 5805 is equipped with a newly developed MM/MC phono stage that offers gain control and infrasound filter on the front as well as capacitance and resistance adjustment options on the rear. In the field of digital audio processing, the No. 5805 the Mark Levinson PrecisionLink II DAC with a latest generation ESS Saber 32-bit D/A converter, jitter elimination and a fully balanced, discrete voltage converter. Four digital audio inputs are available, including coaxial and optical S/PDIF ports, as well as an asynchronous USB port for playback of high-resolution PCM files (up to 32-bit/384 kHz) and DSD files (up to 11.2 MHz ). The no. 5805 also supports MQA technology and has a Bluetooth receiver with aptX-HD.
Reinforcement
The fully discrete, direct-coupled Class AB amplifier channels are powered by a large (500 VA) toroidal transformer with individual secondary windings for the left and right channels. The voltage amplifier topology includes two high-speed Class A driver transistors and six output transistors operating at 260V and 15A. Two Thermal Trak systems ensure a stable output level regardless of load and heat. Each channel is equipped with four 10,000 microfarad capacitors integrated directly into the output stage PCB, providing power for 125W per channel into 8 ohms or 250W per channel into 4 ohms.
steering
The system integration and communication connections of the No. 5805 include Ethernet, USB, RS-232, IR inputs, and 12V trigger inputs and outputs. An internal website allows setting up, importing and exporting configurations and software updates via a PC and a standard web browser. In addition, third-party drivers are available.
design
The design of the No. 5805 is characterized by robust materials, elaborate surfaces and striking geometry. The one-inch-thick, bead-blasted, black anodized solid aluminum faceplates flow seamlessly into the smooth glass display, which is itself set into a clear anodized aluminum bezel. The feet are designed to match the legendary Mark Levinson hourglass buttons, which lead to a gently curved profile and form a flowing transition to the curved, bead-blasted, clear anodized front. An elegant 5000 series aluminum IR remote control is included.
