McIntosh MC2152AC

Stereo tube amplifier

The MC2152 tube amplifier is a 150 watt per channel stereo amplifier and features a striking new design that celebrates McIntosh's seven decades of handcrafting some of the finest home audio equipment the world has ever heard.

Thanks to patented Unity Coupled Circuit output converter technology - the same technology that founded the company in 1949 - the full 150 watts can be delivered to almost any pair of speakers, whether they have an impedance of 2, 4 or 8 ohms .

The MC2152's design is highlighted by a bead blasted black anodized aluminum chassis accented with matte carbon fiber side panels. The front features a backlit, laser-cut McIntosh logo flanked by classic McIntosh buttons. The vacuum tubes are housed in a 12 gauge stainless steel wire cage with a black powder coat finish.

Stereo tube amps celebrating McIntosh's 70th anniversary

On the rear are the two unity-coupled output transformers, with the power transformer centered between them. All three transformers are housed in glass topped extruded cases showing the wiring diagram for each transformer. A 70th anniversary badge is laser engraved into the top plate of the cases.

The MC2152 uses eight KT88 output tubes plus eight small signal tubes consisting of four 12AX7A and four 12AT7 vacuum tubes. Half of the tube's complement is allocated to each audio channel. The 12AX7A vacuum tubes are for the balanced and head amps, while the 12AT7 tubes are for the voltage and driver amps. The LEDs beneath the eight small signal tubes can be set to three illumination settings: off (allowing the tubes' natural amber glow to be seen), green or blue - a new color option unique to the MC2152. McIntosh proprietary Sentry Monitor technology monitors output current and shuts down the amplifier if safety limits are exceeded.

The rear panel features both balanced and unbalanced inputs, as well as McIntosh's patented Solid RCA speaker binding pins to securely connect your speaker cables to your speakers, and an input and output for Power Control technology that automatically identifies other connected McIntosh components , such as a preamplifier, CD player or turntable, switches on and off.
