This turntable follows a clear principle: maximum flexibility with uncompromising manufacturing quality. Nothing here is simplistic; every design decision serves to fine-tune the sound and ensure long-term usability. Depending on the model, this mass-loaded turntable weighs around 30 kilograms – a clear statement in terms of smooth operation, stability, and mechanical precision.
The base consists of a solid aluminum carrier on which a variably positionable tonearm base is mounted. This allows the use of tonearms with lengths from 9" to 12". An innovative rotary and sliding mechanism makes it possible to freely adjust the tonearm's distance and angle to the platter, despite its absolutely secure screw mounting. This allows the turntable not only to be optimally matched to different tonearm geometries, but also to be fine-tuned to precise sound characteristics.
A key feature is the consistent ability to adjust the tonal characteristics through the use of different materials. Both the tonearm base and the coupling between the record and platter can be made from materials such as wood, Portuguese slate, acrylic, or POM. This allows for targeted manipulation of the sonic behavior – from analytical and precise to warm and organic.
The new M-5 motor housing further enhances this flexibility. Its asymmetrical design allows it to be placed very close to the drive unit and positioned freely. This means that, despite its size, the drive unit can be easily integrated even into smaller spaces.
Another practical detail is the scaled tonearm base. This allows a tonearm, including its base plate, to be precisely adjusted once and then reattached exactly the same way within minutes. This solution offers real added value, especially for users with multiple tonearms or for switching between different turntables.
