At the core of the Optimum are three silver-plated Ohno continuously cast copper conductors (OCC), each strand of which has a square configuration for closer bundling. The OCC offers a far superior degree of purity with excellent electrical conductivity, improved flexibility, resistance to fatigue and corrosion.
A high quality FEP offers the very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. The three conductors are given a slight rotational twist to aid in RFI and EMI suppression. They are surrounded by a cotton filler that gives inner strength and reduces microphony. The entire construction is enclosed in a mylar sleeve to provide an additional dielectric buffer before an active OFC shielding is applied for maximum suppression of high frequency interference. A durable PVC outer jacket offers a high degree of flexibility and mechanical strength.
