With 'Absolute Phono', clearaudio presents the world's first active solution for all moving coil pickups (MC).
By amplifying the record signal directly at the source, i.e. at the pickup, with the help of a circuit board, the signal-to-noise ratio improves in the entire audio range by around ten decibels.
The RIAA main amplifier stage, specially developed for 'Absolute Phono', is deliberately designed puristically with two pair outputs. In order not to influence each other, both the balanced XLR output and the unbalanced RCA (Cinch) output use separate high-level output drivers. There are no relays or coupling capacitors in the signal path that would otherwise deteriorate the sound. With the outsourcing of the power supply unit, network interference is reduced to a minimum. Last but not least, the stand-by power consumption follows the latest EU directive and is below 0.5 watts.
The selected clearaudio silver mica capacitors also come from our own production. These have the lowest loss factor, are non-magnetic and are located exactly where they are crucial for sound quality.
For ease of use, the RIAA main amplifier stage is specifically equipped with just one multi-function button illuminated in blue. With it you can select 'On' and 'Off' and activate the muting / mute function.
The 'Absolute Phono' can be built into all common Clearaudio tonearms at the factory.
The circuitry of 'Absolute Phono' is designed in such a way that it works optimally in connection with an MC cartridge from any manufacturer.
This is guaranteed by the selected 'current amplification circuit'. This eliminates the need to set or search for an optimal terminating resistor or a terminating capacitance for an MC system.
