The album is not available digitally (i.e. for a quick listen). The album "McIntosh SESSIONS" was produced with the utmost precision and attention to detail to create an outstanding sound experience. Recorded and mastered on analogue tape, it offers a high-resolution vinyl playback that transports the listener directly into the studio to experience the captivating performances and the musicians' original sound.
The production was carried out in collaboration with the renowned studio Sterling Sound and was led by a team of experts. Every phase - from recording and mixing in legendary studios to mastering and test playback on McIntosh systems - had the goal of creating a sonically outstanding record. This project is the result of a unique collaboration between McIntosh and Sterling Sound and is aimed at discerning music lovers.
About the Peter Erskine Quartet
The Peter Erskine Quartet brings together outstanding musicians who are among the best in jazz:
Peter Erskine (drums):
- Has been playing drums since the age of four.
- Participation in over 700 albums and film soundtracks.
- Winner of two Grammys and honorary doctorate from the Berklee School of Music.
- Collaborations with artists such as Weather Report, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Diana Krall, Pat Metheny and many others.
- Professor and Director of Drumset Studies at the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California.
Alan Pasqua (piano):
- Steinway artist and Grammy nominee.
- Professor of Jazz Studies at the USC Thornton School of Music.
- Collaboration with greats such as Tony Williams, Dave Holland, Michael Brecker, Joe Henderson and Sheila Jordan.
Darek Oles (bass):
- Born in 1963 in Wroclaw, Poland.
- Highly respected acoustic bassist who studied with legendary musicians such as Charlie Haden.
- Faculty member at the University of California, Irvine and one of the most sought-after bassists on the US West Coast.
Bob Mintzer (saxophone):
- Saxophonist, arranger and educator.
- Member of the Yellowjackets for 30 years.
- Chief conductor of the WDR Big Band in Cologne.
- Author of over 500 big band arrangements as well as jazz and orchestral works.
- Collaboration with greats such as Tito Puente, Jaco Pastorius and the New York Philharmonic.
Together, the quartet combines decades of experience, virtuoso interplay and creative excellence. The intimate atmosphere of the studio recording reflects the essence of jazz and makes “McIntosh SESSIONS Volume 1” a special listening experience.
