Direct drive turntable
SL-1210MK7:
Precise, stable synchronization and powerful drive torque
With direct drive, a slow-running motor is used, which drives the turntable directly on the same axis. This system offers many advantages, such as optimum synchronization, high drive torque, pleasant freedom from maintenance and outstanding reliability over the entire service life. However, older direct drive motors were characterized by the so-called cogging torque, small micro-vibrations that go back to magnetic polarity reversal processes. The SL-1210MK7 uses a new drive motor with a stator that does not require an iron core. Therefore, this motor is also free from cogging torque. The gap between the coreless stator and rotor (drive magnets) has been minimized to maximize drive torque. In this way, a torque could be realized that corresponds to that of the SL-1200MK5.
New functions for more creativity
Adjustability of starting and braking torque
The SL-1210MK7 impresses with innovative technologies for motor control. They have been used and perfected primarily in the latest generation of Blu-ray players. Thanks to a microcomputer, the controller easily withstands normal playback as well as more demanding DJ applications such as scratching. In addition, the starting torque and braking speed can be adjusted to individual preferences.
Pitch function for fine speed adjustment
The rotational speed of the SL-1210MK7 can be set to 33-1/3, 45 or 78 rpm.* The pitch adjustment range is ±8%/±16%. This enables high-precision and stable fine-tuning of the speed as well as perfect matching, e.g. B. two SL-1210MK7 units in DJ mode. *The use of 78 RPM is activated via the main on/off switch.
Reverse play function
If the speed button and the start/stop button are pressed at the same time, the platter rotates in the opposite direction*. This opens up new, creative possibilities for the DJ. *The reverse play function is activated via the main on/off switch.
*The pickup system must be designed for scratch operation.
Highly sensitive tonearm
The tonearm is statically balanced in an S-shape - typical of Technics models. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-strength aluminium, while the gimbal bearing section features a machined housing and high-precision bearing elements. This ensures excellent tracking with a minimum of unwanted stylus movement even under harsh conditions such as scratching.
Needle lighting using bright, long-life LEDs
The telescopic needle light uses a new push mechanism and a bright, long-lasting white LED. In addition, the lighting area and the exposure intensity were adjusted. Compared to the previous models, this ensures better visibility of the needle - even in very dark environments.
Detachable power and signal cable for greater flexibility
The SL-1210MK7's power and phono cables are detachable for quick swapping. The gold-plated phono connection sockets ensure the best sound quality and contact properties.
Highly stable housing and effective damping feet
The chassis of the SL-1210MK7 is very stable and extremely low in vibration. The die-cast aluminum chassis is rigidly attached to a construction of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) plastic reinforced with fiberglass. The two-layer construction offers strength and vibration damping at the highest level and thus guarantees faithful, dynamic sound reproduction. Feet made of a spring-rubber construction ensure optimal cushioning. They also ensure stability in horizontal movement. This combination guarantees uncomplicated handling, especially when scratching, and very good interference immunity - even at very high sound levels.
Hood
The SL-1210 MK7 is primarily intended for DJs. For this reason, the protective hood cannot be opened. The turntable can thus be pushed completely against a wall, for example. No hinges that would allow it to be opened can be retrofitted. It is only removable.
