Cambridge CXA80 80W Integrated Amplifier

PERFORMANCE, PRECISION AND DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

When designing the CXA80, complete refinement and precise balance were at the top of Cambridge engineers' product specification list. The result is one of the most sophisticated amplifiers in the range; perfectly tuned for the most demanding listener, it offers music reproduction with the utmost precision and in professional quality.

Way ahead of the competition

With 80 watts per channel, the CXA80 has enough power reserves even for loudspeakers with the highest demands. But it's how that performance is delivered that completely sets the CXA80 apart from the competition. The entire layout is designed to minimize crosstalk between the left and right channels and achieve amazing stereo channel separation. This allows you to locate the instruments in your room almost exactly. The CXA80 has balanced and separate transformer stages for the left and right channels, dual rectifiers and separate power supplies. When these 'dual mono components' combine together, they fill your music with incredible presence and depth. This creates a wide, enveloping soundstage that is normally only obtained from amplifiers that cost far more.

Effortless performance

Cambridge engineers spent months developing the CXA80's unique, discrete circuit board, knowing it would ultimately give them the sound they wanted. In terms of performance, too, they insisted on what they knew would produce the desired result. They've used a class AB amplifier to minimize crossover distortion so your music sounds cleaner and more controlled. An oversized toroidal transformer of audiophile quality offers enormous power reserves, a constant audio signal (without clipping) and a sensational bass performance. Finally, they got reinforcement from the ALPs membrane potentiometer. With its precise volume control and excellent channel balance at low levels, it ensures that the volume is always perfect through both channels, right and left, no matter what volume you're listening to.

Intelligence with great looks

Using the CXA80 is a pleasure. The floating look of the cabinet, the brushed finish, the easy-to-read front panel - all designed to create a hi-fi amplifier that looks as great on the outside as it is well thought out on the inside. No matter what source your favorite music comes from, the CXA80 will rediscover it.

Get the most out of your music

To help you get more of the music you love, the CXA80 was designed from the ground up for digital sources. With a highly specialized 24-bit/192kHz WM8740 DAC chip from Wolfson (a very high-quality digital-to-analog converter), the CXA80 offers a powerful upgrade for all your digital sources; and by simply connecting it to the digital output of the CXC CD drive, you get yet another perfect match. The result is that your digital music takes you to new heights, revealing new depths of sound and creating an experience like never before.

connections

Designed to drive as many separate sources as possible, the CXA80 is equipped with both digital and traditional analogue inputs. It has S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLINK inputs to support digital sources, as well as USB asynchronous audio input - so you can enjoy your music straight from your PC or your Mac.

If you then add the optional BT100 Bluetooth dongle, the high-quality aptX streaming opens up the many possibilities of your connected device. Analog options include a high quality balanced XLR input, four sets of RCA inputs and a 3.5mm front panel AUX connector.
