Melco N10/2 music library

The new flagship two-box design is the most powerful Melco music library in the company's history.

The N10/2 is available in two different storage variants: in an HDD version (N10/2-H50) and in an SSD version (N10/2-S38) . The architecture of the N10/2-H50 is already known from the 45th anniversary version. The N10/2-S38 replaces Melco's previous SSD-based flagship from the N1Z family.

The special feature of the two libraries are the newly selected HDD and SSD drives: 5 TB storage volume is available in the N10/2-H50 and 3.84 TB in
the N10/2-S38. The special drives are handpicked by the manufacturer for exceptional audio reproduction.

The N10/2 also benefits from a new high-performance motherboard, the first of its kind
has been installed in the N10 45th Anniversary Limited Edition.

About the new N10/2 models

The N10/2 consists of two housings, which allows Melco engineers to isolate the sensitive signal processing electronics from the power supply.

The 'head' unit contains the processing electronics and all connection fields, the power supply unit a powerful and low-noise linear power supply (toroidal transformer).

The 'head' unit uses the same ultra-low-noise, high-precision digital circuitry as existing Melco devices and is designed from the ground up as a pure audio device. As is well known, Melco dispenses with standard IT components or PC parts.

Melco's proven software architecture is reassuringly familiar to existing Melco owners; It offers first-class user-friendliness for newcomers.

Typical Melco

The N10/2 continues to benefit from well-known Melco design features. There are two Ethernet ports on the back of the main unit: LAN and PLAYER. The latter is a dedicated port designed to connect directly to network streamers without the need for a data switch in between, maintaining timing accuracy.

In addition, two USB 2.0 ports are available (plus another USB port on the front panel), including a dedicated USB DAC output for connection to USB DACs, USB DAC equipped amplifiers or powered speakers. The second USB port allows for effortless connection and operation of USB devices including: importing or playing music from storage devices, HDD/SSD drives and CD drives (CD 'ripper'); Capacity expansion with Melcos E100 (or other) storage drive and easy data backup to HDD/SSD drives.

In addition to Melco's software architecture, the N10/2 benefits from Melco's Intelligent Music Library Suite, consisting of MinimServer and SongKong software.

The unit is also Roon Ready, DSD compatible and offers app control via DLNA/UPnP (in USB DAC mode) with support for TIDAL, Qobuz and vTuner streaming with the Melco Music HD app. Qobuz Downloader and HighResAudio.com also enable direct, error-free High-Res downloads without using a computer.

The N10/2 can also be used as a standalone local high-res digital music player when connected via a USB DAC. It supports data rates up to 32-bit/384kHz and Octo DSD, as well as Gapless and Melco Markerless DSD.
