Melco Audio launches new noise-reducing Ethernet cable
With the C100, Melco presents a new Ethernet cable that is characterized by its noise-reducing properties. The new C100 replaces Melco's previous C1AE Ethernet cable while offering a number of improvements designed to reduce noise and improve sound quality on the network.
Asymmetrical grounding of the cable
The C100 benefits from the cable's asymmetric grounding, where one end of the cable is connected to the ground point. According to Melco, this dissipates unwanted noise, either from outside sources or from connected equipment, in a direction towards the ground point (identified by a Melco logo on the connector plug) and so does not affect sensitive signal transmission.
'Floating' shield
The opposite (ungrounded) end of the cable has a 'floating' shield that is not connected to the connector plug, eliminating unwanted noise from downstream audio equipment.
Other features include gold-plated connectors, a smooth cable exterior to prevent tangles, and double shielding for added protection. The thickness of the C100's conductors has also been improved over the previous model.
Available lengths
The C100 is a very high bandwidth cable of 600MHz: 6x the speed of CAT 5 and 2.4x the speed of CAT 6a. The C100 will be available in lengths of 1.0 m, 2.0 m, 3.0 m, 5.0 m and 10.0 m from January 2023.
