At CES 2018, the British manufacturer Chord Electronics presented the latest addition to its successful D / A converter family. The QUTEST is the successor to the compact 2QUTE, is based on the technology of the award-winning HUGO2 and offers the long legendary chord sound in the smallest of spaces. QUTEST is a truly purist DAC - in contrast to its close relatives in the Chord lineup, it has neither a headphone amplifier nor an integrated battery and is therefore only intended to improve the sound of your home system. Like all Chord DACs, QUTEST also uses an FPGA chip with in-house developed converter algorithms and the unique WTA filter (Watts TransientAligned). The QUTEST can be connected to any amplifier, preamplifier or headphone amplifier via the analog stereo output.
A galvanically isolated USB connection (asynchronous, USB-B, up to 768 kHz), an optical TOSLink input (up to 192 kHz) and two coax inputs (BNC, dual data mode up to 768 kHz) are available for input signals from digital sources There is so much more to the little QUTEST than you might think at first glance. Based on the unique architecture of the multiple award-winning HUGO2 and with four different selectable frequency filters, it offers top sound in the smallest of spaces! Every QUTEST is completely manufactured in England. The massive housing is made with the highest precision from a single piece of aluminum and is and with a high-quality anodizing refined.
