SONUS FABER

MAXIMA AMATOR FLOOR SPEAKER

THE SONUS FABER HERITAGE COLLECTION

The name speaks for itself: the HERITAGE collection encompasses the heritage of Sonus Faber's past and combines it with cutting-edge technology of today.

There are products that are not tied to a single historical moment and there are experiences that make Sonus faber so unique and distinctive. Born out of this awareness, the Electa Amator III and Minima Amator II together form the Sonus faber Heritage Collection, in which we have collected the intangible values of the Italian manufacture, its tradition and know-how.

The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator is a unique 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker consisting of a solid wood housing and the largest loudspeaker in the fine Heritage series and plays surprisingly confidently for its dimensions. It is difficult to describe the Amator in words. A dream of Italian craftsmanship, the finest materials and endless musicality, built for eternity.

Sound artist in solid walnut wood

Sonus faber is not only a synonym for the most natural tones worldwide, but also stands for almost unrivaled in-house wood processing. This is taken to the extreme in the Heritage Amator series with its solid wood housing.

Acoustically optimized cabinets in furniture quality

Sonus-Faber founder Franco Serblin orientated himself early on to the instrument makers in the nearby violin town of Cremona, where he learned a lot about professional woodworking. This tradition is lived every day at Sonus faber. The Amator cases are largely made of solid wood. Since solid walnut is a living material, an enormous amount of know-how goes into the development, preparation and manufacture of these fantastic cases.

Outstanding drivers

All drivers are designed by Sonus Faber and manufactured in Italy or Europe. The outstanding 28mm Damped Apex tweeter is low-distortion and radiates homogeneously. The construction has a strong neodymium magnet and a wooden damping chamber on the back. The mid-bass driver offers an optimized drive, a low-resonance cellulose fiber membrane and is based on a robust cast basket. Voices, piano, wind instruments, woodwinds and metalwinds, guitar and drums, everything just sounds very natural here.

Outstanding crossover

The crossover built into the speaker is another sticking point for the good sound. The IFF 'Interactive Fusion Filtering' crossover is the result of a long development period and countless, critical listening sessions. It is largely responsible for the precise, dynamic and full-bodied sound as well as for the wonderfully staggered spatial reproduction. The highlight: the switch is visibly integrated.

Finest handwork

This project has been in development for a long time and has literally matured little by little. Many technical hurdles with the walnut cases had to be overcome. And with the final vote, the developers were meticulous. The result can be heard and seen. At home in small and medium-sized rooms, the Maximas offer maximum homogeneity, spaciousness, timbre, dynamics, delicacy and naturalness. The build quality literally knocks your socks off. The best thing to do is visit us now for a listening appointment and take a look.

By the way: In 2022, the testers from the US specialist magazine The Absolute Sound awarded Sonus faber loudspeakers the highest award, including the new Maxima Amator.

TheEar.net: '... engage the listener, body and soul. This may be an expensive two-way but it soon becomes apparent that it delivers value for money on all counts.'
