Audio Physic Codex with Powertrain
Audio Physic presents the new Codex. For the first time, the award-winning speaker is equipped with the revolutionary PowerTrain technology including the new HHCM SL midrange driver.
As a result, the Codex achieves unparalleled performance in terms of resolution and spatial representation in this class. The elegant and minimalist design of the Codex remains unchanged.
Intelligent housing architecture
Excellent music reproduction and living environments are in a certain field of tension. Loudspeakers need a certain housing volume for deep bass and a solid foundation. The Codex manages to walk this tightrope thanks to its intelligent case architecture. Despite its volume, the four-way speaker radiates stylish elegance with its clear lines and narrow baffle. Especially in the exquisite high-gloss glass design, combined with light colors, the loudspeakers appear almost weightless.
Particular attention was paid to the internal structure of the body, because only an extremely stable housing can provide the prerequisites for a colorless and detailed reproduction. Numerous struts and particularly stiff elements made of open-pore ceramic foam help the Codex body to achieve excellent stability without noticeably reducing the internal volume. The speaker's sandwich construction with the permanently elastic middle layer (gluing) perfectly calms the housing. An acoustic life of its own of parts of the housing is thus effectively prevented.
The woofer of the Codex sits inside the loudspeaker and works in its own, optimally tuned housing. The 27 centimeter long-throw chassis is extremely powerful and effortlessly transmits the lowest frequencies. From 100 Hertz, it hands over the baton to an 18-centimetre chassis in the front of the case. Advantage of the division of labor: The bass reproduction remains sovereign and controlled in every situation. In addition, the Codex leaves much more leeway in terms of placement than classically designed loudspeakers, they also play cleanly structured and with good pulling power close to the wall.
New HHCM SL midrange driver
The clarity in the lower octaves lays the foundation for the exemplary neutral and precise reproduction of mids and highs. The pioneering Hyper Holographic Cone tweeter, now in its third generation, and the new HHCM SL midrange driver are used here. Thanks to its special bead construction, it does not require a centering spider, which means that the structure behind the aluminum membrane is much more streamlined, which in turn prevents compression effects.
The innovative design of the drivers reduces the sound effects of micro-vibrations to a conceivable minimum, as the drivers have no direct contact with the baffle of the speaker. Stray vibrations, so-called partial oscillations, can therefore not disturb playback. In addition, the chassis each have their own chamber in the housing of the Codex. Interactions via the air volume in the loudspeaker are thus excluded. For maximum signal fidelity, the crossover is distributed over several levels, equipped with first-class components and placed close behind the respective chassis.?
Nothing but music... as always
The Codex also shows attention to detail in its connection terminal. This is where high-quality WBT nextgen™ binding posts receive the loudspeaker cables. The terminal is also mechanically decoupled from the box body. The sum of all these details makes the Codex a truly mature loudspeaker - true to the Audio Physic motto: Nothing but Music.

PowerTrain™
4-way principle
With the 4-way loudspeaker, four different loudspeaker chassis share the reproduction spectrum. One or more subwoofer speakers, one or more woofers, a midrange speaker and a tweeter. The transition from the subwoofer to the woofer is usually around 100 Hz, the low and mid-range are usually separated between 250 Hz and 400 Hz, the crossover frequency from the mid-range to the tweeter is usually around 2000 Hz to 3000 Hz.
Sandwich body construction
With the unique sandwich construction, Audio Physic has found an innovative way to prevent the loudspeaker housing from having an acoustic life of its own. The advantages of this construction are particularly noticeable in loudspeakers with glass surfaces.

HHCT III - Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter
The HHCT-III tweeters combine several AUDIO PHYSIC core technologies to ensure absolutely unadulterated and enormously spatial music reproduction.
Invisible subwoofer
A woofer hidden inside the cabinet is used in some of the loudspeakers, which offers a punch and bass tone that you would otherwise only be able to achieve with an additional subwoofer.
Ceramic foam bracing
Ceramic foam or ceramic foam is a high-tech material that is used in many loudspeakers to stiffen the housing. It is significantly more stable than MDF, but consists of 85% air. This increases the effective working volume of the loudspeaker with the same housing size.
Dual basket design
The unique double basket design suppresses unwanted vibrations where they arise: in the chassis.
Active cone damping
ACTIVE CONE DAMPING is a form of resonance suppression for metal membranes that was first implemented by AUDIO PHYSIC.
Bi-wiring/bi-amping optional
Most AUDIO PHYSIC loudspeakers are supplied with a high-quality single-wiring terminal as standard in order to avoid unnecessary metal and cable bridges in normal operation. In most cases, a bi-wiring/bi-amping terminal is available as extra equipment for new orders, subsequent conversion only on request.
CCAC – Ceramic Coated Aluminum Cone
Coating an aluminum cone membrane with a special ceramic creates an extremely light and torsion-resistant loudspeaker membrane which, in conjunction with the ACTIVE CONE DAMPING technology, is practically immune to disruptive partial vibrations.
VCF - Vibration Control Feet optional
The high-end speaker feet VCF protect sensitive floors and offer a simple but amazingly effective sound improvement for speakers from AUDIO PHYSIC and other manufacturers, hi-fi components of all kinds and even cables.
VCT—Vibration Control Terminal
Unwanted vibrations disrupt the unadulterated signal flow at every point in the transmission chain. Since AUDIO PHYSIC has declared war on sound-damaging vibrations and resonances in any form, the VIBRATION CONTROL TERMINAL (VCT), which is elaborately decoupled from the housing, was developed.
