Further development of the SME tonearm – VA series
The legendary tonearm of the V series has been further developed and perfected into the VA (Advanced) series. By using a new polymer resin material, the tonearm tube is now even stiffer and less resonant, while at the same time reducing the effective mass. The result: unprecedented sonic precision.

drive and speed control

The turntable is powered by a custom-built two-phase AC synchronous motor. Speed control is provided by a dedicated DSP unit that generates two independent, mathematically pure sine waves. These precisely control frequency, phase ratio and amplitude and are tuned to the motor to ensure optimum performance.

The output stage is a two-channel, bipolar Class AB amplifier with low distortion and direct relay coupling to the motor. The entire construction is based on high-quality surface mount technology on a gold-plated FR4 circuit board.

Speed ranges include 33.33 and 45 rpm with separate memory options set via a rotary switch.
