The Sub 6 was designed to fit seamlessly into all systems with Dynaudio speakers. And for owners of the Contour or even higher series (i.e. Contour, Confidence, Evidence, Special Forty, Special Twenty-Five) it still has an ace up its sleeve.
The Sub 6 is equipped with advanced intelligent DSP technology that tailors its performance to the user's system so precisely that it can effectively transform two-way into three-way speaker systems. For use with other speakers (including from other manufacturers), the relevant parameters crossover frequency, gain and phase can be set manually.
Two completely newly developed 24 cm MSP+ Hybrid Drive membranes are responsible for its powerful bass reproduction. They were specifically designed for subwoofers. There is also a power amplifier integrated into the base with 500 watts of power. The new chassis are located at either end of the cleverly designed, closed enclosure, which is wider than it is deeper, allowing it to be placed more discreetly against a wall.
The Sub 6 is equipped with two RCA and two XLR connectors, which allows integration into practically all systems. A number of practical functions facilitate integration into large and complex systems. This includes the ability to delay the audio signal to ensure that playback via the subwoofer and speakers is perfectly coordinated. All the user has to do is enter the distance between the subwoofer and the speaker. The speaker then automatically adjusts both the signal phase and signal delay. The equipment also includes a fully parametric EQ. It includes three filters that allow you to counteract room modes to achieve the best possible sound quality.
From two-way to three-way system
The Sub 6 integrates perfectly into existing Dynaudio systems. The reason for this is that our developers went beyond the obvious and usual. They determined all the relevant acoustic properties of our popular high-end hi-fi speakers and then recorded them in the form of so-called performance maps. This information is stored in Sub 6. With the help of the integrated display and menu system, the user can select his Dynaudio loudspeakers. The Sub 6's frequency transition is then perfectly matched to the existing two-way system. And so a 'seamless' three-way system is created.
Firmware update
As Dynaudio introduces new speakers in the future, we will provide firmware updates for the Sub 6 that include appropriate mappings. This means that the Sub 6 can form a perfect ensemble with both the latest speaker models and our classics.
Brand new chassis - tailor-made for subwoofers
Subwoofers need to be optimized with different priorities than regular stereo speakers. That's why the new Dynaudio MSP + Hybrid Drive chassis are used in the Sub 6. They are made primarily of aluminum to increase rigidity and were developed specifically for subwoofers. In order to avoid any 'ringing' that may result from the use of aluminum, a two-component damping system is used. It includes paper damping on the back of the chassis and a damping cap on the front made from Dynaudio's own proprietary material, magnesium silicate polymer (MSP). The result is the best possible playback performance.
