Note: This offer is for a used device. The floorstanding speaker may have minor scratches on the surface, but this does not affect its functionality – the Kanta No. 2 is in perfect sound and technical condition.

Between 1972 and 2010, the SL-1200 made Technics synonymous with a love of music. Just in time for the brand's 50th anniversary, the company confirmed the relaunch of this classic as a high-end product: The direct-drive analog turntable returned in the summer of 2016 as the Grand Class SL-1200GAE, initially in a limited worldwide edition of 1,200 units. The central promise of Technics products – the pursuit of the definitive sound – applies to this completely redesigned turntable legend in a particularly significant way. The numerous overwhelmingly positive reviews of the SL-1200GAE in the international trade press have once again confirmed the outstanding sound characteristics and excellent build quality of this exceptional product.

The unlimited edition of the direct-drive high-end turntable: Technics SL-1200G
Please note: The SL-1200 G does not include a cartridge! You can find our exclusive MM and MC cartridge recommendations under 'Accessories'.
Following the overwhelming success of the limited-edition SL-1200GAE, which sold out worldwide in record time, Technics hereby announces the launch of the unlimited SL-1200G at the end of September 2016. Due to the limited production run, the extremely high demand for the limited-edition SL-1200GAE could only be partially met. To satisfy the overwhelming customer demand, Technics will largely reverse the originally planned technical modifications compared to the SL-1200GAE and equip the SL-1200G with the outstanding features of the limited-edition model.

This means in detail:

The SL-1200G will also feature a magnesium tonearm instead of the originally planned aluminum one. Numerous listening tests have confirmed that the magnesium version is significantly superior to the aluminum one. For visual differentiation, the tonearm tube of the SL-1200G has a slightly more matte, roughened finish, giving the surface a pleasingly modern and dynamic appearance.

The damping material of the SL-1200G's absorber feet—similar to the SL-1200GAE—consists of a complex silicone-rubber compound. Besides its elasticity, this compound is characterized by a high degree of plastic damping properties, resulting in an enormous absorption of vibrations. Due to the unlimited production run, Technics simply uses a different supplier for this material. The visual difference from the limited edition is the significantly darker color of the damping feet on the SL-1200G.

The plaque indicating the limited serial number from 0001 - 1200 remains reserved for the SL-1200GAE.

Availability

Since the SL-1200G is largely handcrafted in Japan, production capacity remains limited. Due to the extremely high demand for the limited-edition SL-1200GAE version, a similarly high demand is expected for the SL-1200G model, meaning that delivery delays and waiting times of up to two months between ordering and actual delivery cannot be ruled out.
