A Legend Re-Born: Technics is celebrating the brand's 50th anniversary with this reincarnation of the famous SL-1200 series of turntables.
The new SL-1200 G is being hand-build to the highest quality standards and takes many design clues from the original but has been transformed into a truly audiophile modern turntable.
After the impressive success of the limited edition SL-1200 GAE, Technics payed heed their customers' wishes and decided to bring specs of the the non-limited SL-1200 G as close to the Limited Edition as possible. The only differences are:
SL-1200 G ships with a magnesium tone arm similar to that of the GAE version, but with a slightly darker finish.
The silicone-rubber material of the SL-1200 G's feet comes from a different supplier and has a slightly darker colour but has the same absorbing and dampening capabilities as the material used in the feet of the GAE version.
The SL 1200 G does not bear the numbered Limited Edition badge
Really, that's it. Otherwise, the SL-1200 G is exactly the same as the Limited Edition GAE and will certainly match it for performance.
Availability:
As all SL-1200 G turntables are truly 'Handmade in Japan' production capacity is very limited. As demand remains high and judging from our experience with the first batch of GAE models we advise our customers that the time between ordering and delivery may well be up to two months or more!
