MEMBRANE DESIGN

In a world of fast-paced technology, Meze relies on proven foundations. Assembled and tuned with the utmost precision, the 50mm dynamic driver made it possible to push the boundaries of speed, accuracy and dynamic range.

To achieve the acoustic goals Meze set for the 109 PRO, they focused their R&D work on materials research for each individual component of the driver.

The quest to maximize the headphone's sonic capabilities began with the diaphragm, where Meze focused on finding the perfect balance of mass and stiffness. The stabilization ring, made of a copper-zinc alloy, has the task of improving the absorption of vibrations, the choice of materials contributing to a significant reduction in distortion. Next to it are the light and efficient neodymium magnet and the copper coil. Together they are housed in a CNC-machined, high-precision aluminum frame that has proven to be particularly reliable.

The high damping properties of beryllium also help to suppress unwanted resonances and give the 109 PRO its neutral, lively and transparent character.

ACOUSTIC DESIGN

The 109 PRO sounds lively and exciting thanks to the open design and enables the listener to connect deeply with their music.

Carefully tuned by the in-house engineering team, it offers an emotionally powerful sound - detailed, clear and just the right amount of pressure. Its organic character, paired with outstanding dynamics, excellent imaging and full-bodied voices, brings soul-moving details to life. Plus, the 109 PRO is easily controllable from most devices, whether they're portable sources or complex home systems.

The spider-like structure and acoustically transparent grille inside the earcup exposes the driver from both sides, resulting in the most open directivity pattern to date. Using the principles of anthropometry, the driver has been positioned at a precise angle and distance from the ear for an ideal anatomical fit.

The velor pads comfortably enclose the ears and provide an optimal seal for a natural sound. The self-adjusting headband distributes the weight for even pressure on every head shape and size.

The 109 PRO is all about comfort - from the construction of the headphones to the choice of materials, all decisions have been carefully made to ensure the end product meets the highest ergonomic standards. With this in mind, Meze has combined walnut wood, zinc, manganese steel and vegan leather into a comfortable, lightweight yet extremely strong structure.

SUSTAINABLE WOOD

The black walnut wood we use for our headphones comes exclusively from certified sources and is harvested from mature trees that have reached the end of their life cycle. In this way, the environment is protected and space is made for new life, while the old trees shine again in the shape of a Meze headphone.

Following this philosophy, the 109 PRO can be disassembled and serviced if necessary, which can infinitely extend the life of the product.
