CAMBRIDGE AUDIO
The new Black Edition of the CX series
For years, Cambridge Audio 's CX series has stood for a clearly defined goal: to reproduce music as faithfully and precisely as possible. With the Black Edition, this established platform receives a minimalist, meticulously designed look in matte black – technically unchanged, with the same high-quality sound, but visually understated.
Reduction to the essentials – design without distractions
The CX Black Edition features a housing made of matte black anodized aluminum, complemented by subtle, finely tuned contrasts. The goal is not a visual statement, but integration: the devices recede into the background, the music takes center stage.
The stable steel chassis also ensures mechanical stability – an often underestimated basis for clean signal processing.
Components of the CX Black Edition
The limited edition includes three key components of the series:
- Cambridge Audio CXA81 Mk II – Stereo integrated amplifier with high power reserves and precise control
- Cambridge Audio CXC – CD transport with a focus on precise data extraction and stable signal transmission
- Cambridge Audio CXN100 SE – Network player for high-resolution streaming with maximum detail
All three components follow the same design philosophy: clean signal transmission, stable power supply and a tuning designed for long-term fatigue-free listening.
Sound characteristics: Control, balance, resolution
The CX series is not geared towards effects, but towards consistency. The sound remains neutral, detailed and free of harshness even during extended listening sessions.
- precise spatial imaging without artificial over-sharpening
- controlled, structured bass
- Clean midrange reproduction for voices and acoustic instruments
- Clear, unobtrusive highs without harshness
The result is a soundscape that does not push itself to the forefront, but rather reveals details naturally.
System openness without compromise
The CX Black Edition is deliberately designed to be flexible and integrates seamlessly into a wide variety of setups.
- Integration into existing HiFi systems
- Combination of analog and digital sources
- Modular expansion from individual devices to complete systems
Whether as an entry into high-quality audio playback or as a targeted expansion – the devices adapt to existing structures without any limitations in performance.
Durability as a design principle
The choice of materials and workmanship are designed for continuous operation. The combination of a robust housing, precise manufacturing, and proven electronics ensures long-term stability and consistent sound quality.
