MEPHISTO MONO REFERENCE POWER AMPLIFIER
The Gryphon Mephisto Mono reference power amplifier offers pure Class A operation with impressive performance. With a continuous output of 200 W (8 O), 400 W (4 O) and 800 W (2 O) effectively, it delivers powerful and precise sound reproduction. The power amplifier is built in a pure monoblock configuration and dispenses with global negative feedback for a natural sound characteristic.
The output stage of the Mephisto Mono reference power amplifier is equipped with 80 high-current bipolar output transistors, which can also operate demanding loudspeakers with ease. A capacitor bank with a capacity of 1,000,000 µF ensures a stable power supply.
To ensure signal integrity, Gryphon uses DC servo coupling and optimizes switch geometry for the shortest possible signal paths. The internal wiring of the Mephisto Mono is made to Gryphon's high quality standards, while the output coupling is implemented via solid copper rails. There are no output relays, resulting in more direct signal transmission.
The power amplifier is equipped with decoupled transformer housings to minimize unwanted electromagnetic interference. The double-sided circuit boards meet military standards and ensure a robust and reliable construction.
The Mephisto Mono features two separate Holmgren toroidal transformers with internal magnetic shielding to ensure optimal power delivery. The amplifier and digital circuits each have separate power supplies.
When it comes to the connections, Gryphon relies on the highest quality: The Mephisto Mono is equipped with gold-plated XLR input sockets from the renowned Swiss manufacturer Neutrik. In addition, specially manufactured Gryphon connection terminals are used.
For ease of use, the front panel controls are touch-controlled and backlit. A 12 V remote switch enables the amplifier to be switched on automatically. The green bias setting can be set to low/medium/high either automatically or manually.
The Mephisto Mono is equipped with a non-invasive protection device that protects the amplifier and connected speakers from overload and damage.
The Gryphon Mephisto Mono reference power amplifier was developed and manufactured in Denmark and is characterized by a solid construction and excellent sound quality.
