Beauty and the Beast

The MC1.25KW AC “Quad Balanced Power Amplifier” is McIntosh's newest and most modern power amplifier. Redesigned from the ground up, it replaces the venerable MC1.2KW AC as the most powerful single-chassis monoblock. A quick look at this power amplifier, which weighs almost 72 kg, is enough to be sure that there is power and impulse capability in abundance here. But only when you hear this new power amplifier do you understand the outstanding sound level it offers.

The MC1.25KW delivers 1,200 watts with an almost imperceptible total distortion of 0.005%. Thanks to McIntosh Autoformer™ technology, this almost ridiculous performance is available for 2, 4 or 8 ohm speakers.

A large number of updates and improvements went into the MC1.25KW. Increasing the filter capacity by 50% improves low frequency performance and increases the dynamic bandwidth. The top of the amplifier features an updated yet distinctive McIntosh industrial design that fits right in with current McIntosh products or those made decades ago. The audio autoformer and power transformer are located directly behind the front panel, and on the top there is a recessed glass plaque with the Mc logo and the amplifier model name.

Unlike its smaller integrated amplifier brothers, the new monoblock has a total of 4 highly efficient McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks™ with an embedded Mc logo. The high-current output transistors behind it eliminate thermal response delays so effectively that the first tone sounds the same as it does after several hours of fascination.

Power Guard®?: Monitors signal levels at the speed of light and adjusts them if necessary to prevent speaker damage in the event of high distortion and clipping.

Sentry Monitor™: McIntosh's short-circuit protection circuit that turns off the power stage before current exceeds normal operating levels and automatically resets it when operating conditions return to normal.

Gold plated speaker connectors that are corrosion resistant and ensure a high quality signal is always sent to the speakers.

The MC1.25KW AC monoblock, with its 28cm blue glowing VU meter, black glass front panel and solid side handles, is undoubtedly another expression of the globally appealing McIntosh aesthetic.
