Driven by its impressive 670 mm spherical wave horn with a transmission range of up to 170 Hz, the DUO is the epitome of performance and dynamic elegance. Because in the captivating world of spherical wave horns, size is key. The larger the dimensions of the horn, the deeper its lower bandwidth and the more the listener is sucked into outstanding performance.

The Evolution XM2 midrange driver - a 170 mm chassis with a powerful Alnico magnet - is designed for a large, linear cone excursion.

Its new 'soft mesh compound' membrane uses a stable lattice carcass as the basis of construction. The microscopic openings of the grid are sealed with a dampening elastomer coating.

The combination of the solid network structure with a flexible lining develops a broadband absorption effect that effectively dampens partial vibrations of the membrane and thus unwanted harmonics.

The DUO SD uses the same XT3 tweeter used in the flagship TRIO G3. The XT3's lighter ring-shaped diaphragm extends the frequency response up to 28,000 Hz with a sensitivity of 107 dB, providing more clarity, focus and a fuller and more natural sound.

In the subwoofer, the new powerful XB12 driver is used in a bass reflex configuration. We've increased the voice coil from the previous model's 100mm to 153mm. This gigantic motor structure with a diameter of 6 inches achieves outstanding values of power factor and durability. At the same time, thermal compression is significantly reduced.

The G3-500 bass amplifier has 500 watts and is equipped with a modern digital sound processor. The new user interface allows easy adjustment of the sound to individual preferences and seamless integration of the system in different rooms.

With the G3 series, all drivers are on one axis. That is, the acoustic centers are all on the same plane. The distance between the acoustic centers of the driver and the listener is therefore always identical. Accordingly, the signals from the respective sources (tweeter, midrange and woofer) arrive at the same time and therefore correctly.

PASSIVE VERSION.

The passive version is designed for use with external hi-fi amplifiers.

With an efficiency of 109 dB and an impedance of 27 ohms, the speaker is extremely easy to operate and is also ideal for low-power amplifiers. The ideal loudspeaker for the best high-end amplifiers in the world.

ACTIVE VERSION

With the ITRON version, the amplifiers are built into the loudspeaker and no additional external power amplifiers are required. For this purpose we have developed integrated electronics that are based on fundamentally different electro-physical laws than all other amplifiers on the market. We have succeeded - as the first manufacturer in the world - to get the technological approach of the current amplifier, which is considered perfect, to work and which was previously considered technologically unmanageable. The perfect crossover.

With our SphericLowCut filter, Airgate technology and the PolarizationPlus circuit, we have developed the most innovative technological concepts in our passive crossover.

These are completed with the highest quality components available. Our new NatureCap is an extremely complex constructed capacitor, handmade in Germany. The electrodes are made of precisely rolled aluminum foil instead of plastic foils vapor-coated with aluminum. As a dielectric, we use a cellulose fiber compound saturated with biological oils. The NatureCap is approx. 25 times larger than the capacitors from the XD series and is securely attached to the circuit board using specially manufactured brackets.

XB12 bass driver

RADICAL BASS. RADICAL DRIVE.

A completely new drive was developed for the DUO SD. Compared to the previous model, the voice coil has been increased from 100mm to 153mm. This gigantic 6 inch motor structure achieves absolute top values for the power factor and the resilience, while at the same time reducing the power compression.

The motor structure consists of two high-grade magnets that are magnetized in Europe's largest 200,000 volt system. Due to the huge voice coil, the force of the permanent magnet with a flux density of 1.15 Tesla is transferred to a voice coil circumference of 480mm. This is an increase of over 50% compared to the previous model.

Low carbon steel is used for the pole plates specially designed for the XB12.

In order to ensure high linearity even with maximum deflection of the membrane, the centering has a patented dynamic profile with a progressive design of the bead. The surround is made of low-loss NBR (acrylonitrile butadiene rubber) to achieve fast and clean transient response.

The membrane consists of a composite of long-fiber paper and carbon fiber - extremely stable and torsion-resistant for a precise piston-shaped stroke of the membrane during the swing-in and swing-out processes.

The new SingleFrame chassis of the XB12 has robust die-cast aluminum cantilevers, which also enclose the magnet, for an absolutely stable material composite around the moving components of the engine structure.

The XB12 is our bass reference. A statement that underlines the uncompromising and uniqueness of the G3 series.

POWER IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

The DUO SD's active subwoofer is powered by the G3-500 power module. This integrated power amp consists of a 500 watt amplifier that provides plenty of headroom even with complex EQ settings.

The subwoofer can be switched on remotely via a 12 volt switching voltage input. The direct connection to integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers or receivers is made via speaker level input terminals. Alternatively, line-level inputs are available via XLR terminals. The signal tap is not only high-impedance, but also symmetrical and transformer-coupled. This keeps the circuit ground floating, eliminating ground loops and making it easier to interface with balanced and bridged amplifier designs.

The entire electronics are protected by a state-of-the-art E-Fuse circuit. This is not only much faster and therefore safer than conventional fuses, but also ideal in terms of sound.

Digital crossover.

EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL

The bass amplifier is equipped with an advanced digital sound processor.

With a level of precision and bit accuracy unachievable with analog technology, the digital crossover eliminates all passive filtering elements in the signal path.

The subwoofer volume is set using two buttons on the DSP display.

Extensive additional settings (e.g. high and low pass filters, equalizers, etc.) can be programmed with the Avantgarde Control software. For this purpose, the DSP has 2 x LAN sockets, which enable daisy chaining and thus programming of several subwoofers at the same time. A USB connection is available as an option.

The user interface has been completely revised and now allows very simple, intuitive use by the customer. In this way, all parameters can be easily adjusted to the room acoustics or listening habits.

With the BASS-BOOST control, the bass reproduction can be boosted below 45 Hz and the bass reproduction can be adjusted from "linear" to "fat".

The DSP has an 8-band equalizer for individual frequency settings. Each of the 8 x bands can be boosted or cut by up to 4dB. This can be used to adjust bass response to specific sounds (linear, techno, disco, pop, etc.) or reduce some broadband room resonances.

The upper crossover frequency of the subwoofer and thus the “tonal balance” of the system is set with the LPF–RANGE slider.

At higher frequencies, the subwoofer partially overlaps the frequency response of the midrange horn. This makes the sound character of voices / instruments "warmer" and "fuller".

If the crossover frequency is set to a lower frequency, the subwoofer and midrange response will have a small gap. The tonal balance of the system shifts towards a more "dynamic & powerful" sound.

FILTERS 1 & 2 are narrow-band "notch" filters with a gain reduction of -3dB or -6dB. These filters can be used to eliminate/reduce unwanted narrow-band resonant frequencies in the room.
